As a long time fan of both batman and the arkham series I really don't think arkham knight is up to the standard of the other two and that the witcher massively out does it.

  • Knight is fantastic, and it's a beautiful spectacle to behold and I'll still enjoy playing it five years from now. But City was literally flawless IMO, a perfect 10. Rocksteady set an impossible standard with that game and there just wasn't really anything meaningful left to improve unfortunately. They may have been able to outdo city if they had been willing to try to cram it full of as much bonus content as possible as one last thank you to devoted fans like you and I, but instead they decided to give in to what I have no doubt was a lot of pressure from the greedy, morally bankrupt publisher WB, and r@pe our wallets for all we're worth. The Harley Quinn DLC was pathetic, and I expect the Red Hood one to be about on par with it. The batgirl thing was okay for fans who'll enjoy a little bit more story and a little more joker, but it was disappointing and brief to say the least. There was nothing unique about it. Batgirl fights exactly like batman, and has the EXACT same gadgets. In city they gave Nightwing, Robin, and Catwoman unique gadgets and combat that actually felt a little different, including their own special combo moves, which carried into Knight for each character. Oddly enough though, those characters felt slightly watered down in knight, like each one was missing a little something. Ex-What was the point of taking away catwoman's caltrops? I can't praise the game enough for giving me almost everything I wanted, but judging it as a full package and being honest and unbiased about that insulting $40 season pass, the only explanation for some of this sh1t is that they got lazy and greedy. CDPR on the other hand continues to roll out free content to everyone who plays Witcher, and promises expansions worthy of the title of 'expansion'. I think they said the first will be 20 hours of content and the second will be 40. All for the same price as my two hours of batgirl and twenty minutes of Harley Quinn, Red Hood, and maybe one other character, and some fūcking skins that a developer's art student child could have made? That DLC is like a joke that nobody's laughing at. Endless respect to CDPR for their post launch support, for actively showing their community that they are acknowledged and appreciated, and for setting a standard that all devs should strive for. Give great content, gamers will see that it's valuable, and the profit will come. CDPR HAS to win Dev of the year. They've already earned it, and they're just getting started.

  • The publishers are the evil in this industry. WB is mostly to blame for Arkham Knight's problems, just like Activision is mostly to blame for all of Destiny's shortcomings. I can't imagine how great Destiny could have been if Bungie had expanded itself enough to publish and develop the game in-house. They could have given it another year of dev time, and basically launched it with all the content that it has now and then some. If Activision was never part of the equation I think it could have been a lot closer to that 'massive, epic, shared-world shooter' that all that aggressive, reptilian marketing promised us.
