While I'm not a creationist or even religious, that argument can still apply to Trilobytes. First there's little shells and soft-bodied stuff and then BAM! Trilobytes outta nowhere ~500Ma.

  • If you're playing devils advocate(pun not intended), soft bodied animals are extremely difficult to preserve and transitional species developing shells would still have "soft" shells that would likely have degraded over time. Add 500 million years years off tectonic activity and its no small wonder why there isn't much to go on with.
