We need more opportunities at getting ascendant materials.
I have several vintage guns and pieces of armour in my vault that I really want to make useful again but they were never fully upgraded. The problem is that there are now almost no opportunities left to gain ascendant materials and none at all if you are primarily a PvP player. The daily heroic missions that offer them are far and few between and on top of that they offer no matchmaking which is a serious barrier for some (and soloing is not a fun option because of their difficulty). I've heard that VoG is a source, but not everybody wants to do a full-on raid for materials. It makes no sense that these materials should be this hard to gain now.
Edit: Thanks for all the advice folks. I will simply have to grind out these mats doing VoG and/or Dailies. I kind of already knew that before I posted here but just wanted to make sure I didn't miss any other alternatives.
Edit 2: Two things after a day of replies:
1. Thank you for all the constructive advice from many of you. My question has been answered. Thanks to you I now realise that setting the difficulty to 26 or higher on any pre-HoW daily strike will allow me to easily get ascendant materials.
2. And to the people that do nothing all day but pour derision on those who are looking for help on these forums: Frack off!

Daily you get 2 from there and is pretty easy

the daily heroics are the easiest way. Fun or not, they are easy to complete and you get 2 ascendant mats from each one. that's 6 a day if you have 3 characters. Run VoG. You get at least a dozen or more just for a normal completion and more for hard mode. Plus you can trade energy for shards and vice-versa now. Why didn't you collect the mats when you collected the armor anyway? None of the new stuff needs ascendant mats now. Sounds like you screwed yourself there, not Bungie

2 RepliesI didn't understand how you could need these until you mentioned that you basically only do pvp. You're gonna struggle for basically every material if you do that.

Is this a joke? We JUST got them to take that garbage out of the nightfalls and engrams. Do your dailies everyday and run VoG on Normal then Hard every week and you'll be knee deep in that feces. Put your time in. We all had too.

Just start doing the daily, daily. It's not that bad. Sometimes it's a long mission but others are short. Before to long you'll have plenty.

Idk what your sources are about people not wanting to do vault of glass. There are people all over looking to still get fatebringer and vault weapons. Heck I've been bored lately so I started to stockpile my shards and energies again. You can always find a firearm looking to take people on for a hard vog. Just ask questions and be straight forward with them. I can see you never did vault of glass yet so just ask what to do

It's a long time since I needed to grind for materials but when I did I used to do 3xpublic events every day (I think you still get shards and energy from them for the first one on each character). You can also get 3xradiant shards/energy from soloing the first door in the abyss (with your 34 warlock you can solo up to deathsinger with some practice reasonably easily so can get plenty of radiant mats each week). VoG is easiest place to get ascendant mats but obv only if you have a fireteam. You said dailies are no good, why is that? If I were you I would level up all my characters first so the above becomes easier.

You can trade any raid materials with the speaker so you can do either raid or the daily heroic. Stop whining they are super easy to solo what are you talking about

Can you get the first mats chest by glitching through the VoG door? I've only done it after forming the spire so I'm not sure if it's there if you solo it

Level up your other characters and run vog

It kind of does make sense. The only weapons that require them now are vog ones. It's the same as the crota weapons. Only way to level them was/is materials from the raid. Given that you can even swap ascendant shards and energies around now it's easier then before. Before HoW I had loads of weapons stuck at 291 damage or whatever it was but I had hundreds of shards sat around

2 RepliesI leveled up my Badger and MG18A by doing the dailies, took me a couple of weeks or so just playing on one character. Remember to up the difficulty before you start, you get double materials.

6 a day from the daily if you run it on 3 characters. Not if its HoW DLC though. So about 36 a week if one day is HoW DLC mission.

4 RepliesSeriously, the daily is quite easy to solo and a couple of vog runs should give you plenty. I think you can also run crota and then exchange radiant materials with the speaker. Crota is shorter than vog!
