The Bungie community has such a vibrant arrangement of Authors, Writers, and Intellectuals. That we would like you to show off some of that talent here, by hosting a writing challenge! Here's some of the basic rules, and commonly asked questions. Is there a prize?
No...Unless you count my undying admiration.
Who is eligible?
Anyone with a heartbeat.
Length?
Not too long as it has to fit in a single post, but not too short either
Format?
Anything you like even if it's a rap song!
TOPIC? You get points for the theme of " Sci-Fi or Horror Story with 1950's overtones" If you find this all too stifling, or you have already have something written. Then please feel free to share it, as individuality and craftsmanship are important to. Who, and how will this be judged? Well the final Judge will be me, and another volunteer from the TCA, but input from the community in ways of bumps, or comments are greatly appreciated. What I'm looking for is: Individuality and craftsmanship, and staying in the guidelines of the theme. The winner will be announced on FRIDAY JULY 31! -EDIT Slightly changed the topic to broaden things.

Without setting the bar too high lol, I thought I should go first and submit an example, which took me under an hour to write. Hopefully it's not too terrible, but hopefully inspires someone to have a little bit of fun with this theme. . Rocket ship X-Omega 1 - A Radio Play Driven by Phil, who is the top Air force Captain on his way to visit Dr Monroe. The beige convertible cruises across the Nevada Desert on an empty highway, with a wide starry night in the background. **Phil walks into Dr Monroe’s office and is greeted by a slim blonde Secretary, named Scarlett** Phil: “Hey there good looking, I haven’t seen you for over 3 months” Scarlett: *Smiles* “Let’s say I prefer to keep it that way” Phil: “Hey… Don’t say you didn’t have fun with me at the Casino?” Scarlett: “I did, but when I woke up you were gone” Phil: “I had flight orders; they shipped me up to the North Pole!” Scarlett: “Somehow…I don’t believe you” Phil: “Awe common, let me make it up to you tonight! I’ll make reservations at the best restaurant in town.” Scarlett: *Smiles confidently *“I’ll think about it, after you go see what Dr Monroe wants” *Phil Proceeds into Dr Monroe’s office* DrMonroe: “Ah PHIL! I’ve been expecting you; here have a drink while I show you my greatest discovery” Phil: “Thanks Doc, can you make it a double scotch on the rocks?” **DrMonroe, pours Phil a glass of scotch and hands it to him, as he motions Phil over to a large paper fed machine** DrMonroe: “You see this small meteor on the Spectrographohmeter?” Phil: “I can sort of make it out, what’s so special about it?” DrMonroe: “What if I told you it’s not a meteor, but an artificial satellite!” Phil: “Well that would be insane, as no one can reach outer space!” DrMonroe: “Well as strange as it seems, it’s true. It was placed by unknown civilization over 13000 years ago” Phil: “I have to say this sounds a little crazy, how do you know all this?” DrMonroe: “It was first discovered by a genius called Tesla in 1899 who nick named it the Black knight. Tesla went on to discover, that it was sending out a coded message on short wave radio” Phil: “That’s swell and all, but you said that you had made a discovery?” ** Just then a buxom brunette wearing a lab coat walks over to the men** DrMonroe: “Yes with the help of Jane my assistant here, we’ve finally cracked the mathematical code!” Phil: “A gorgeous dame, who’s also good at math? Now I’ve seen everything!” DrMonroe: “Ha ha it’s quite true. In fact let me have her explain what we found” Jane: “After spending many lonely nights together, I and DrMonroe discovered the Black Knight was transmitting a mathematical code, to which we have now called binary. This code in its self is so advanced, that we believe it will advance computer science by almost 1000 years” Phil: “Really, well what does it say?” Jane: “So far all we’ve gotten, is what we believe is a recipe for atomic rocket fuel, and plans on how to build a ship” Phil: That’s fantastic, we should start building immediately” DrMonroe: “That’s the best part my Boy! In order to get a jump on the Red’s, we started building it eight months ago. It’s just about ready, we leave tonight!” Phil: “You mean me?” DrMonroe: “Yes because the rocket hasn’t been tested yet, we need the best Pilot in the Air Force” Phil: “Well OK, but who else is coming?” DrMonroe: “Myself, Jane, a couple of scientists, and a few of your past bomber crew for support” **Phil, then pokes his head through the door to speak to Scarlett” Phil: “Sorry Sweetie, but I’m going to have to cancel those dinner plans tonight” Scarlett: *Looks disappointed as she frowns* “Awe, what could it be this time?” Phil: “You would never believe me if I told you”
