Or since you can hold Y (for xbox) to switch to heavy weapon... how about holding down the d-pad a certain way for 2-3 seconds and auto pops a synth. Would still allow you to use your emotes.

This would result in the same problem as trying to reload in the Skolas fight when near the tainted player. The game doesn't distinguish between pressing something and holding and quickly letting go.
