I don't think so. "Balance up" only works for a game that's purely PvE, which is why Borderlands has some crazy overpowered guns. Throw PvP in there, and "balancing up" reduces time-to-kill and waters down the multiplayer experience. Basically, it becomes CoD. These changes were necessary because some of the guns were the absolute top choice for their corresponding activity (Thorn for PvP, Gjallarhorn for PvE). They severely overshadowed any other choice one could make and, if you weren't going in using these guns, you were immediately at a disadvantage. In a game with so many guns to choose from, so few of them shouldn't reign supreme.

  • Then only nerf/buff these weapons for PVP

  • In some cases, yes. But when some weapons completely trivialize a fight and allow you to bypass the mechanics of a boss, then there's a problem.

  • And which 'Boss' are you referring to?? Atheon is better suited with good crit hits from snipers. Crota, well that whole raid is an absolute joke, but still doesn't need a Gally to beat. Although that one had the most LFGs asking for them. Either way, that raid had less time invested in developing it than they spent on this blanket nerf 2.0. Then Skolas? Only the 2 times he had solar out of 2 months was a gally 'needed'. Aside from that, you use arc for arc, void for void. Pretty simple. Hell, there's a video of 6 guys running all 3 with Vestian Dynasty. Didn't take them long either. Not like they were some crazy ninjas or something. Regardless, Gjallarhorn was a staple of Destiny. One of the few things so many people still played in hopes of getting...don't even get me started on black hammer and ice breaker. Both completely unnecessary nerfs

  • With three Gjallarhorns, you can bypass: The healing mechanic of Kaliks. The detaining mechanic of Qodron. The shield element switches of Valus Traug (or whatever his name is). And you can pretty much burn everything much quicker than you should be. Yes, bosses should not be bullet sponges. Therefore, mechanics need to be more creative to make the fight a challenge while not allowing the fight to be trivialized by overpowered PvE weapons.

  • Don't give your bosses an insane amount of hit points and people will try said "mechanics." The only reason people demand Gjallarhorn is because it makes these ridiculous encounters shorter.
