[Bug] Husk of the Pit
WE DID IT! Our voice has been heard and Bungie has now addressed the issue. You can find a link to their response below: https://www.bungie.net/en/help/article/13160
Hello everyone! First of all, I would like to thank you guys for taking the time to read my post. This post will be primarily about the common-quality item, Husk of the Pit (HotP), and the possible loot bug surrounding it. Currently, there are a handful of posts being made every day here, the official Bungie forums, as well as the Destiny subreddit regarding the drop rate/chance of the HotP and how it may be bugged since the most recent patch. The reason why we, the people who have been farming HotP, believe there is a bug with this weapon's drop chance is due to the volume of kills that have occurred in the past few weeks with no confirmed player drops. (When I say confirmed, I mean a kill and drop with video proof.) Currently, I am at 669 Blade of Crota kills (according to my Blade of Crota Grimoire Card). There are a lot of people out there, like myself, who are farming this weapon for hours on end every day. Lots of these people have much more confirmed kills than I do. It is highly unlikely that NONE of us have received the HotP in recent weeks with THOUSANDS of confirmed kills among us all. We are all working together trying to discredit this bug by posting a video of the kill and loot of HotP, however, no one has had any luck. Sure. There are always the naysayers who claim that they got theirs yesterday after 3 runs. There are those that say that we are all unlucky and RNG is being stubborn and that we're all crazy. The thing is that this isn't natural. Yes, Husk of the Pit is rare, but not 20,000+ kills rare. There is a good chance that it may be bugged and all I'm asking is for Bungie to take the time to test that it actually can drop after the most recent patch update. Those of you who are planning to link Bungie's Official Post regarding Husk of the Pit on this post, don't bother. We've all read it and none of us believe it until we see it. Bungie may not be aware of this issue and this is exactly the point of this post. Anyway, thanks again for reading. Have a great day.
EDIT: I am now at 748 Blade of Crota kills. I have been picking up and dropping the Blade of Crota bounty when I reach 2/3. I started attempting these conditions from 669 kills and above. To note, I have also lowered my light level to 30. No luck yet. I am at 79 kills with these special conditions set. I will update this post if I get the husk to drop.
• I think that the Husk of the Pit can only drop off of kills that count towards the Blades of Crota bounty from Eris. There are a few reasons that I think this. - Bungie QA may have taken a look into the total number of husks of the pit that have dropped in the past week in order to reply to the posts on this. As long as that number is >0 (which it probably is, given that there are lots of people doing this bounty), they would assume that it simply was a very rare drop chance, especially if they weren't the ones involved in setting the loot table up. - Many, MANY people have said that "they found their husk after they just gave up looking for it". They would farm, have no luck, give up, and then go back to kill the blade to finish the bounty sometime and BAM, husk. - A high percentage of players seem to say that they were doing the Blade of Crota bounty when theirs dropped. I think that at the beginning of TDB, Husk could drop for anyone nearby when a blade was killed. After a little while (and mind you, many players got it at this time) they changed it to require the Eris bounty so that new players wouldn't recieve this item that would confuse them. This is all conjecture, but it appears to line up with the data i'm seeing, and it reconciles the insane numbers of attempts with bungie's insistence that it is indeed still available. Think about it - even the farmers who have killed 500 a day are really only getting 3 "rolls" towards the husk every day. If that's true, then the fact that it's a rare drop is still well within the bounds of REASONABLE RNG. What we are seeing, however, is definitely not reasonable RNG. I have a method for testing this that I am going to start trails on tonight. It is as follows: Get the Blades of Crota bounty Kill 2/3 of the Blades towards finishing the quest Abandon the Bounty Return to the Tower and grab the bounty again Repeat. If anybody wants to test this with me, the more data we get the better. All it needs is ONE drop from somebody who is working towards this for us to have a good beginning point for getting everyone their husks.
