What's The Point Of Life If Death Is Inevitable?

So, I've been struggling with depression for a while now; and recently another thing has begun to plague my already sick mind. That thing: is the point of life. If our death is inevitable, and the world itself is becoming more dangerous, inhabitable and our governments are becoming more corrupt; all of these which of course drastically affect our quality of life, why keep living? Now this isn't a sympathy post; far from it. I'm just interested in seeing everyone's view on life itself, be it a reason fueled by one's religious faith, personal desires or utter fear of the prospect of death itself. I want to know. Maybe it'll help me with my condition.

  • Actually, the world is not becoming more violent nor dangerous. If you look statistically, we are living in the most peaceful of times. It's just that now we have worldwide broadcasting to hype up certain events. Anyways, now that that's out of the picture, as an atheist, I myself have had to struggle with the concept of death. Death is an especially hard to come to grasp with kind of concept, especially seeing how for me at least, I have no where to go. But instead of focusing on death, I found that it is best to focus on life. The flame that burns twice as bright also burns for half as long, as they say. And I find this to be somewhat true. Life is absolutely, without a doubt valuable. This is because it is finite. You must make the most out of your life, because that is all you'll ever have. It is the only thing, so why not experience it to its fullest extent? Death, to me at least, is just another part of life. I think death is really only death in the case of those who have died. But death is a necessity so that life may go on. Without death, we'd be an overcrowded planet. I know that it's hard to brighten up such a dark topic, but even if death is inevitable, that doesn't mean that you should quite. Maybe you should devote your life to improving the lives of future generations, so that they may be inspired to help further generations themselves, regardless of inevitable demise. Make yourself a legend, someone who will be remembered long after your death. Because if anything, you actually die three times. The first time is when your heart stops. The second is after your funeral. The third time you die is the last time anyone ever says your name again. Don't let people forget you.
