Because hand cannons are just as deadly from those ranges, and close range where scouts suffer

  • Most Scout Rifles, like Snipers, don't suffer from damage drop-off on most Crucible maps, the range of a Scout Rifle is longer than the longest sightline in every non-Combined Arms map I can think of. If you want to make an argument for using a Hand Cannon to effectively counter-snipe, be my guest.

  • Sky shock is on a single playlist not a lot of people care about, but still you make a point and I don't feel like arguing so whatever

  • Thorn counters snipers very well

  • Try using Thorn to do that on Skyshock, then tell me again.

  • Haven't played Sky Shock. Just maps that matter like Trials and Iron Banner. It is capable of out doing snipers on every trials map and IB map.

  • Went Flawless in Trials on Widow's Court, Cauldron, Black Shield and Pantheon using a Scout Rifle, with my 2 teammates using the same. Not been flawless on Burning Shrine, have been on Thieves' Den but it is potentially the worst SR map in existence. Considering that 90% of the opposition is Thorn, I think I did pretty well for myself.

  • Look at my stats. I am terrible at pvp yet I tend to go flawless every week. Haven't run this week but regardless. There is people who do well with other guns but overall thorn outperforms most. Flawless is not a huge thing

  • If you had to decide who was the better player between two people with near-identical records, the only difference being that one uses Scout Rifles and the other uses Exotic Hand Cannons, whom would you choose?

  • To be 100% honest I would bring the guy using the hand cannon. They are simpler to use and bode better results than any other primaries in PVP. I used scouts a fair amount on my warlock and hunter. Titan I just prefered my LW over anything else. Never owned Thorn mainly because I dont care about it. But I have seen them do stupid distance shots with perfect accuracy on several streams and been tagged at ridiculous ranged by it.

  • So you'd rather choose the player with less skill? Also, after checking your stats, I can't really say that 88 kills with SRs across those 2 characters counts as "a fair amount". Given that you refer to The Last Word as your go-to Titan primary and your overall best weapon is the Shotgun, I'm beginning to understand why you' wouldn't use a Scout Rifle, because you're not the kind of marksman behind the trigger that they need to be used to their full potential.

Sorry to say but the target acquisitioning on scouts especially scholar does not leave much "Marksmen" skills to be needed. I use what is most efficient. Simply as that bud. I prefer to play with people who use what is most efficient and provide proper results to get things done. The game is very simple and requires little to no skill to be "decent" enough to do things like 9/0 in trials. In things like Trials and Iron Banner where it is all fairly small maps there is not much reason to use snipers. Shotguns dominate regardless. My friend anangrywookie who uses pulses and scouts more than any other primary still uses shotguns despite having more than capable aiming simply because shotguns are undeniable the most efficient secondary to use.

  • Scholar has an Aim Assist of 40, Thorn has an Aim Assist of 60. What were you saying about lack of marksmanship?

  • Again furthering my point of whats more efficient. I prefer to use my Last word because it was my 2nd exotic from week 2 of the game being out. I a large fan of revolver style guns. The fact it became one of the most OP guns in PVP was a added bonus. Even when ARs dominated all I liked to use my TLW.

My first Exotic was Thorn and I adored it, even when I knew it was terrible at the time I got it................until it was buffed beyond belief and proceeded to create the state of Crucible we have now. Half of the point of Crucible is using weapons that you enjoy, but there are people such as yourself who want to play just for the sake of getting kills and stats (even though you specifically don't have a K/D above 1). This creates an environment in which the lesser players have to use the same weapons as you in order to keep up, and many of the better players use those weapons so they don't fall behind. Sure, I like having good stats, but I don't play the game religiously using the most OP weapons so they can be higher. Scout Rifles are my favourite weapons, and being good with them in Crucible, like you with your TLW, is an added bonus for me. The difference is that my weapon is far more difficult to use and less-seen.

  • Ive recently taken the liking to using my Scholar in PVE. I do agree that scouts are less seen. And I wish they would give more reason to use them in PVP by nerfing the exotic hand cannons a bit. Not to much but enough.
