I'd be leaning more towards it being an issue with the install or your xbox.

I'd be thinking this was the correct answer... but I can't help but feel if it was an issue with the xbox wouldn't it more often not work than work? I'm no expert, maybe someone else can shed more light, but it seems like an install or connection issue.
