Now it may not even be the wormhole because the atmosphere would have prevented radiation, but what about when sol inhabited the planet, maybe it's machines caused some kind of radiation leak mutating these plants giving them the ability to absorb radio waves. It's a far fetched theory but if we have any emergency radios or even radio parts I would like to try getting above the canopy to send a request for evac"
