There's been a lot of talk recently about the cost of TTK and after reading a few posts it did get me thinking. Is it really too much? Are fans really being taken the piss out of? Does Bungie really give a shi*t? I came to the conclusion that ultimately they got it right aside one tiny little detail...the extras. Sure a core game and DLC/expansions as they come out will always cost more then if you say purchase the lot together a year or two down the line, this is noting new in our world. What is wrong is giving those late comers lovely little exotics and emotes that dedicated players won't get without purchasing the same games again. That is without a doubt a huge mistake which Bungie seems to be rectifying (the paranoid half of my brain suspects this was by design from highly calculating marketing heads to test the community). But given that I am in the UK I have to pay £40 (roughly $62) for content which is almost the same size as the first expansion in terms of activities is a little hard to swallow. But to then suggest I have to pay another £20 ($31) for some emotes and what not...well that is a little ridiculous to say the least. I do agree with a post I read yesterday (can't find a link for it now) saying that Activision will have certain market expectations of Destiny which puts Bungie smack in the middle of us and Activision but that doesn't mean they can't get pricing accurate and fair. Will I buy the digital version of TTK? Yes Will I buy the emotes and what not? No Will I continue to play Destiny? Hell Yes. And to answer my original question to myself Is it really too much? Yes Are fans really being taken the piss out of? I don't think so Does Bungie really give a shi*t? Yes, I think they genuinely do. For it's price point and replay value (in my eyes) Destiny represents good value for money vs WoW but I do hope £40 expansions are limited to 1 every game as after this it becomes a little steep to stay in the Destiny universe. But hell I'm a fan boy, they could dip that thing in stinging nettles and I'd still lap it up! (joke)
