Although this is an old, already discussed problem, I believe that we can still change. I feel that the majority of players that play Destiny are under the appropriate age for shooters. I think this age should be 18 and over. I'll give you a few reasons.
1)It causes traumatic situations. I for one do not want my child flinching and screaming away every time they see somebody holding a sword.
2) It causes anti-social instincts to grow. When you think about it, the average session a child will play in Destiny is three to four hours. That's three to four hours where the only communication the are getting is with people they have met over the Internet. I don't want children growing older and being scared of every person they see.
3) It teaches them bad words. Every lobby I go into, there is always that person (usually a child) screaming curse words for no good reason. Where did they find out these words? From older players. If there was a minimum age, you would not have this problem. Children are getting angrier because of this game.
4) My final reason is that it causes violence. No 10 year old should be able to make another creatures head explode, or shoot other players virtually. What happens when that transfers to the real world? That anger and frustration would lead to much property being desecrated including
Mailbox Baseball
Laser Tag
TPing Houses
Egging Cars
Multiple holes in the wall from being punched.
ANY PERSON who do not follow these rules should be arrested with a minimum 2 year sentence.
Thank you all for the support you give me. I believe that a change to only 18 year olds and over would make the worlds youth safer and more intelligent than currently.

As far as video game violence goes, Destiny is pretty tame. I think I can trust my kids to not go out and kill people with space magic
-
Now this is silly - I can't believe this has deteriorated to this.
-
The B8 tho
-
This is really great bait unless you are serious...
-
Just something to think about, toddlers know a gun kills other wise they wouldnt pick up a toy gun and shoot it,

The game is rated for T for teen, to which it's 13+. I personally don't agree with small ones playing games like this or any type of shooter. I'm 16 and personally, I think back and wonder why my mother would allow that. I find it horrible parents openly allow their children under an understandable age to play games about killing living creatures and not understand the circumstances. Not to mention incompetent children on my IB teams tend to get pretty anoying.

OP is fgt.

Been playing violent games since I was 3 (Resident evil 2 is the best) And I'm not a violent maniac. Also if a 10 year old is playing this game, that is the parents fault. Not the games fault. It has age ratings for a reason.

Edited by UnkinderCash7: 8/28/2015 1:48:22 AMYou figured us out man, once we some virtual guy die, we are going to go outside and kill everyone on are street and set their house on fire then t-bag them. You figured us out.

This seems like an elaborate joke. If it is, kudos to you, sir, you've trolled everyone here. If you aren't joking... Seriously? I'm 16, play this game, and am not going to kill someone because of it. If your children are swearing down their headphones, and you think they're going to start killing people because the game told them to, the game isn't broken, your kids are.

Someone watches Fox News, and I'm just going point out there is a teen rating on this game.
-
That goes for all m rated games not just destiny

Edited by C Moth: 8/28/2015 2:40:45 PMVideo games do have age restrictions. Unfortunately the world is full of shitty parents that ignore them. I've been playing video games since Pong. I was around 7. I've played all of the games cited as harmful at the ages specifically stated as being the most vulnerable (Doom, Duke Nukem, etc). I even played Dungeons and Dragons when in middle school. According to popular social beliefs I should be an antisocial, homicidal, psychotic shut in. I am not. Why? Because I had good parents. They monitored what I did and gave me perspective and guidance. I learned the difference between entertaining fantasy and appropriate reality. I never thought it was a good idea to aim a gun at my face because I saw them do it in a cartoon. If a kid is that heavily effected they either had lazy parents or (more likely) emotional / mental issues that made them susceptible to begin with.

When was the last time that an age limit stopped kids from playing?
cod?

mortal kombat?

battlefield?

gta?
Yeah age limit doesn't do anything Parents need to be more strict
-
It's been proven that violent games actually reduce real life violence in teens. I see what you mean, though.

Dear God lets all pray this scrub never gets any political power. Vid games will be like prohibition

Now. I'm below 18 years of age and I believe that this post is complete bullshit and sounds like something an overprotective parent would make up. When you let a child play a game not meant for his/her age and he/she starts having nightmares, is it your fault or not for allowing him/her to play it in the first place? I don't think a damn law needs to be installed just because you're a dumbass parent. You should easily be able to see if your child is mature enough and can deal with what they see in a shooter or horror game. My parents did, why are you not able to?
-
There's no age limit on boxing and that's people punching the -blam!- out of each other should that have a age limit too or is that a fact of life that fights happen? And even raising it to 18 won't change a thing! I hear kids on GTA 5 and that's a far worse game then destiny. The truth is it should be down to the parents and what they believe their child should be allowed to view, as all people young and old develop at different stages.

Maturity isn't determined by a number. Some preteens I've played with had an exceptional team dynamic and made the Strike fun and engaging for the three of us, all the while remaining decent. On the other hand, I've played with fellow thirtysomethings that could've done with a little more focus and no mic access. The energy you spend raging is energy that's not going to battlefield adaptability. Always assume that you're playing with a mature individual. If you're proven wrong, there isn't much you can do about it. If said idiot does something stupid and later blames it on the game, then blame the parents or caregivers for not teaching him or her the basics of fiction and what constitutes acceptable behavior. This kind of reactionary post reminds me of the Hatred debacle. All that hubbub over a sub-par twin-stick shooter...

Today's youth are at an all time high for productivity and intelligence, especially compared to that generation's parents or grandparents. The only reason that it is performed that today's youth are not as well off as the previous ones is because social media and the fact that everyone has a camera has given people the opportunity to see everyone at their lowest, you could not do this previously. It is merely the preconceived notion that today's youth is worse than they actually are that enforces and perpetuates this ill conceived stereotype.
TL/DR: OP is fgt.
Your just one of the guys who wants the Gun Ban to go thru. WELL SHAME ON YOU! NOT EVERYBODY IS A SICKO

If you look at his other posts, they are all crap like this. what kind of weirdo goes on a game forum and types up paragraphs of bullshit

What the hell are you talking about? This game has no blood, what the hell kind of trauma can a kid get from destiny?, and are you seriously suggesting jail time for playing destiny underaged? I'd hate to see your reaction if you ever saw a 10 year old playing grand theft auto. This game is tame compared to some others on the market currently. Oh and the cursing in lobbies complaint is explained on the back of the case where you see "online interactions not rated by the ESRB." You have no complaints and you have no case to make here. Bad b8 m8 you get a str8 0/8 with the right to receive much h8 for such bad b8.
