How to get the VIP rewards:

People seem to be pretty confused about the VIP rewards. Apparently, some, if not all of you (thanks to the misinformation spread by people who can't read), think that ANYONE can get the VIP rewards. This is not the case. Stop spreading the lie that you can "just buy The Taken King in January 2016 and still get the VIP rewards". This is the furthest thing from the truth. Here is the information copied directly from the TTK pre-order screen: "*TO BE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE THE VIP REWARDS, PLAYERS WILL NEED TO HAVE AT LEAST ONE LIGHT LEVEL 30 CHARACTER OR OWN BOTH EXPANSION I AND EXPANSION II ON OR BEFORE 08/31/15 AND PURCHASE AND PLAY THE TAKEN KING ON OR BEFORE 02/01/16. VIP REWARDS APPLICABLE FOR ANY ELIGIBLE PURCHASE OF DESTINY: THE TAKEN KING, DESTINY: THE TAKEN KING – LEGENDARY EDITION, AND DESTINY: THE TAKEN KING – COLLECTOR’S EDITION (DIGITAL OR PHYSICAL)." Now, for someone without any reading comprehension, this looks like a rip-off to actual year one players. But what people seem to miss is this: "LEVEL 30 CHARACTER OR OWN BOTH EXPANSION I AND EXPANSION II ON OR BEFORE 08/31/15 AND PURCHASE AND PLAY THE TAKEN KING ON OR BEFORE 02/01/16". See that "and"? That "and" means that you can't just buy TTK and automatically be eligable without ever touching the game before. New players will not be getting the VIP rewards, because they won't have had a lvl 30 or both dlc's before September 1st. It would be a much different story if that "and" was an "or", but it's not. I don't know how people looked right over this very important detail. Year 1 VIP rewards are exclusive to Year 1 players. End of story. The end. Good day. And to those of you unable to read properly, I'm very sorry you have been stricken with the terrible handicap that is illiteracy.

 • So in theory they can entice people to buy the vanilla and current dlcs now, which will hook them to buy TTK so they can get VIP stuff, which again will bring in some revenue. Or. New players will buy around September along with those who want the extra stuff... Again more revenue. Win/win situation for Bungie.
