Hi VaPerking. The way that groups work in Destiny is that there are members and clanmates. Every clanmate is a member of the group but not every member of the group is in the clan. We try to stay around 500 members because we've found that that's a good number of people so that we always have people on without it getting too crowded with people getting lost in the shuffle. Unfortunately Bungie limits the number of group members that can join the clan to 100 and only those 100 are able to carry our clan tag in game. When we're at 100 clanmates the website doesn't allow any requests to join the clan to go through. When the number over clanmates says 99 or less than people can click set as playstation clan and it will generate a request to join the clan which Fizz and I can decide to accept or deny based on how many openings we have. We try to give the clan tag to the most active members within the group who would like to receive it but we can only give it to those who apply. If you apply but we accept someone else instead we oftentimes keep your request pending so that the next time there's an opening we still have the option to accept you :)
