So, for $59.95 I get...

Everything I already own, plus the Taken King ... Or: Buy $59.95 for Destiny - original game Plus $39.95 for expansions I and II Plus $39.95 for The Taken King 'pre-order' -------------------wait for it------------------ That's $140 pretty much for the same thing as noobs can get for $60. Thanks Bungie. I've enjoyed your game. Seriously. It's a lot of fun. I'm not kidding. Check my hours played. More than most, I can assure you that. And, what's my thanks and appreciation for supporting your game along the way? Getting screwed over to the tune of more than DOUBLE THE PRICE that someone will pay today. How the hell does this make sense? You should actually honour your most loyal customers with The Taken King as a FREEBIE, or at the very least , a DEEP Discount. (Maybe $15 instead of $20, but certainly not increase it to $40, that's just plain back-asswards). "Here you go guardian. As a token of our appreciation for sticking with us through the first year, for buying the base game, for getting the first two expansions (which may or may not have been disc-locked content), for playing through the glitches as a live feedback forum for our programming errors, for the buffs and the nerfs you've endured, for the lag and for the heavy ammo we took from you every time you spawned... We would like to present you, as a gift, Your own Edition of The Taken King. I'm not butt-hurt by what's been paid so far. I'm f-ing choked that a newb will get all that and more for $60.00, and that it will cost me another $40 on top of what's already been paid, just to keep up with the BUNDLE-BABIES of 2015. Should be $15 max (free preferred) for the players who already have all the prerequisites. BUMP if you agree with even one part of this. --- out --- EDIT: Geezus. For those of you who agreed, thanks for understanding my point. For the rest, here's an example: You all have cell phones. If you don't, try to imagine having one. Buy the latest phone. Then pay for an upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade. Your buddy goes and buys the upgraded upgraded upgraded phone, AND GETS THE ORIGINAL PHONE YOU PAID FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE GIVING TO HIM FOR FREE AS WELL... For less than half the price too!! and as a freaking bonus, he also gets the charger, the headphones, the protective case and limited edition sticker to proudly display on the back of his Kia Soul as well !!!! Does that help even one of you naysayers get it? Edit 2: For those that say "Isn't this how all games do it?", the correct response is (I'll succumb to Godwin's Law for some of this I'm afraid): Did slavery come to an end? Did the holocaust come to an end? Did the USSR come to and end? Did the wall in Germany get torn down? Pick a metaphor... The choice should be your own. Just because that's how it's always been done, simply does not 'de facto' make it right! Edit 3: Your responses have been mixed. Fine. My post will not be all or end all. I appreciate what most of you had to say. For clarity I do not compare the edit 2 metaphors directly to this video game. But, to be offer a piece of advice to those who thought I meant something else: http://www.quotehd.com/imagequotes/TopAuthors/albert-einstein-physicist-insanity-doing-the-same-thing-over-and-over-again-and.jpg I believe that a company this big and profitable can do better than the companies that came before it. There will always be change. Who will do it first? Edit 4: You'll be impressed... I've listened and here is my last ( probably not) contribution to the argument: Bungie can rename the DLC to be $39.95 for the DIGITAL BEND OVER EDITION* for those of you who already have the original game and the first two expansions. We will send your guardian an in-game bottle of lube. It will be waiting for you in the special orders. * There will be no reach-arounds or discounts offered. Edit 5: Please stop buying next year's car at half of last year's pricing!! Edit 6: There were Alpha players There were Beta players Then came Day-1-ers We can call the next gen the 'Vets' Along comes Xmas Noobs Since then we've had a few Kinder-guardians But this latest generation will forever be known as: THE BUNDLE- BABIES I do not take credit for this nickname, the original poster is down there, buried somewhere in the responses to this thread. Go ahead and find him/her, they deserve all the praise. If my post succeeds in nothing else... BUNDLE-BABIES SHALL LIVE ON FOREVER!!!!! Edit 7: Strictly for your entertainment only: https://youtu.be/eOlIZhs0JEg https://youtu.be/1o0Vv8lr41w EDIT 8: Looks like my rant was 'all' right on the mark. The failure on the price point. The failure in exclusive content. The failure on needing to rebuy items I already own. Many Thank to Eurogamer for taking the time to interview Luke Smith, and get to the bottom of all these inequities. We shall see what the weekly update holds for the year-one owners of the game. I bet it's not much!

Bungie is being smart, offering the bundle at a lower price. If they priced it any higher than $60 many people would disregard it, despite the fact that the content in it is probably worth more than its priced at. Not to mention the fact that Destiny was rated a 7/10, and that's how most non-Destiny players think of it, so a good deal would be needed to pull in new customers. That being said I am disappointed that the collectors edition won't be an option for those that don't want to purchase the game and all the expansions again. If you own the game and both expansion TTK should be cheaper and their should be options to upgrade to the collectors edition.

  • It's called capitalism. Don't like the way things are? Then vote with your wallet. Don't buy it. That's the clearest message you can send. Want to know why we keep getting preorder bonus BS and 15 different editions for games based on what store we buy from and microtransactions out the ass? Because we keep supporting those practices. But I can probably guess that your conviction isn't that rock-solid. You won't be boycotting TTK, and neither will I. Because I love this game, I want to support it, and because I understand how business works. It's not a charity. Early adopters like us always pay more. It's that simple.

    • Bungie is getting new players in the game FOR YOU. If they can pay less, then how does that affect you? You played double for 1000 more hours of gameplay that they'll never get. They'll be lv 1 and you'll be doing the new raid, something itll take weeks for them to try. Also, they never got to play any raid blind day 1, which is my Fav part of destiny

      • Bro bro .... Bro.... You paid 60 for destiny ... 1 year ago, 20 for expainson 1 and 20 for expansion 2. Played the Shit out of them ..... And you expect double the content to be .... Less? Let us use you phone example. 1 year ago you buy a new phone, then buy memory expansion, then a hardware expansion. Now a year later the company produces what you have already done, in piece meal, in one complete bundle and discounted it to attach prospective buys as the markets begins the turn toward the shopping season. Sounds like a regular market move to me and a price of being on the bleeding edge. Be happy, hopefully more people will pick up the game.

        • In civilized society these days we pay for entertainment...plain and simple...movies, sports events, concerts...your "entitled" attitude is simple to rebuke. Look at your numbers...1000 hours for $140...equals to 7.12 hours per $1...a pretty good deal when a two hour movie costs you $10...or a three hour football game costs you $100... Now look at the $60 new Destiny player...he catches up to where you are right now after 420+ hours...by then you are several hundred hours further into your earned value...they will never catch up... And yes...MMORPGs, Madden 20XX, Call of Duty XX, all make you buy the new game...such is life...

          • I respect your opinion and why you'd be upset, but this isn't new for the typical MMO or regular games for that matter. "Ultimate Editions" "Game of the Year Editions" "Definitive Editions" etc. have been coming out in full blast these past few years. Look up all the MMO's that are currently in cycle and see that for let's say for 19.99 you get the ENTIRE Vanilla game, then you get 6 Expansions, 4 add-on's etc. All to attract new people to play the game. Those editions get ALL the DLC, higher or better FPS, higher quality textures, for the same price many people paid on day one, without the DLC. Those that let's say pay for the DLC straight up when it's released are paying a "Premium" "Freshly New Price" The thing is, game's prices depreciate over time, it's just the nature of the business. Bungie is just trying to attract more people that haven't tried the game. I'm personally going to buy the Collector's Edition regardless of already purchasing the original, plus the other DLCs, because I am a collector, and I'd love to have all those fun little things that come with it! Also, have you purchased any let's say remakes lately? Perhaps a "Difinitive Edition" of an older PS PS2/3 or Xbox 360, etc. game lately? Think about the Master Chief Collection? You get all Halo games for the price of ONE Game... and if you were to go buy each game individually for the Xbox, Xbox 360, you'd probably pay 15 dollars for each game! But still, people paid 59.99 for a Higher resolution, better looking game! Anyways, I'm not here to convince you or change the way you feel, I know it feels wrong in a away, but I hope I at least enlightened you a little bit about the nature of the business: it's just the way it is. Is it wrong? some people can argue it is, but without this, people might be out of a job... or perhaps money wouldn't be cycled? Or maybe the game wouldn't get any more updates, expansions, etc. We pay to support something we enjoy doing, end of story. I buy games for PC and Xbox one, because I enjoy the experience games give me. BUT, I CHOOSE to though, I don't have to... hell if I had the option, my wife would burn my computer and throw my Xbox One, Wii U away! But she respects my hobby. We are all humans, we get upset about things, so I hope maybe my post made you smile or feel a little better =)

            • This really can't be argued. You are correct. A player right now will have to re-purchase what they already own to acquire the same things a new player will acquire. This is completely illogical and indefensible. I can buy the Taken King DLC but a new buyer gets all that and more for a cheaper price. It doesn't make any sense in any way at all. Anything they give to newcomes should automatically be given to old players as well. ATLEAST it should be even.

              • I bought an iPhone 5 for $300 a couple years ago... Now it only costs 99$... Apple should have given me the iPhone 6 for free for being a loyal customer.... Although I really do think that veterans should get exotic class items because come the -blam!- on I don't wanna pay 80$ just for like 5 items
