So, for $59.95 I get...

Everything I already own, plus the Taken King ... Or: Buy $59.95 for Destiny - original game Plus $39.95 for expansions I and II Plus $39.95 for The Taken King 'pre-order' -------------------wait for it------------------ That's $140 pretty much for the same thing as noobs can get for $60. Thanks Bungie. I've enjoyed your game. Seriously. It's a lot of fun. I'm not kidding. Check my hours played. More than most, I can assure you that. And, what's my thanks and appreciation for supporting your game along the way? Getting screwed over to the tune of more than DOUBLE THE PRICE that someone will pay today. How the hell does this make sense? You should actually honour your most loyal customers with The Taken King as a FREEBIE, or at the very least , a DEEP Discount. (Maybe $15 instead of $20, but certainly not increase it to $40, that's just plain back-asswards). "Here you go guardian. As a token of our appreciation for sticking with us through the first year, for buying the base game, for getting the first two expansions (which may or may not have been disc-locked content), for playing through the glitches as a live feedback forum for our programming errors, for the buffs and the nerfs you've endured, for the lag and for the heavy ammo we took from you every time you spawned... We would like to present you, as a gift, Your own Edition of The Taken King. I'm not butt-hurt by what's been paid so far. I'm f-ing choked that a newb will get all that and more for $60.00, and that it will cost me another $40 on top of what's already been paid, just to keep up with the BUNDLE-BABIES of 2015. Should be $15 max (free preferred) for the players who already have all the prerequisites. BUMP if you agree with even one part of this. --- out --- EDIT: Geezus. For those of you who agreed, thanks for understanding my point. For the rest, here's an example: You all have cell phones. If you don't, try to imagine having one. Buy the latest phone. Then pay for an upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade. Your buddy goes and buys the upgraded upgraded upgraded phone, AND GETS THE ORIGINAL PHONE YOU PAID FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE GIVING TO HIM FOR FREE AS WELL... For less than half the price too!! and as a freaking bonus, he also gets the charger, the headphones, the protective case and limited edition sticker to proudly display on the back of his Kia Soul as well !!!! Does that help even one of you naysayers get it? Edit 2: For those that say "Isn't this how all games do it?", the correct response is (I'll succumb to Godwin's Law for some of this I'm afraid): Did slavery come to an end? Did the holocaust come to an end? Did the USSR come to and end? Did the wall in Germany get torn down? Pick a metaphor... The choice should be your own. Just because that's how it's always been done, simply does not 'de facto' make it right! Edit 3: Your responses have been mixed. Fine. My post will not be all or end all. I appreciate what most of you had to say. For clarity I do not compare the edit 2 metaphors directly to this video game. But, to be offer a piece of advice to those who thought I meant something else: http://www.quotehd.com/imagequotes/TopAuthors/albert-einstein-physicist-insanity-doing-the-same-thing-over-and-over-again-and.jpg I believe that a company this big and profitable can do better than the companies that came before it. There will always be change. Who will do it first? Edit 4: You'll be impressed... I've listened and here is my last ( probably not) contribution to the argument: Bungie can rename the DLC to be $39.95 for the DIGITAL BEND OVER EDITION* for those of you who already have the original game and the first two expansions. We will send your guardian an in-game bottle of lube. It will be waiting for you in the special orders. * There will be no reach-arounds or discounts offered. Edit 5: Please stop buying next year's car at half of last year's pricing!! Edit 6: There were Alpha players There were Beta players Then came Day-1-ers We can call the next gen the 'Vets' Along comes Xmas Noobs Since then we've had a few Kinder-guardians But this latest generation will forever be known as: THE BUNDLE- BABIES I do not take credit for this nickname, the original poster is down there, buried somewhere in the responses to this thread. Go ahead and find him/her, they deserve all the praise. If my post succeeds in nothing else... BUNDLE-BABIES SHALL LIVE ON FOREVER!!!!! Edit 7: Strictly for your entertainment only: https://youtu.be/eOlIZhs0JEg https://youtu.be/1o0Vv8lr41w EDIT 8: Looks like my rant was 'all' right on the mark. The failure on the price point. The failure in exclusive content. The failure on needing to rebuy items I already own. Many Thank to Eurogamer for taking the time to interview Luke Smith, and get to the bottom of all these inequities. We shall see what the weekly update holds for the year-one owners of the game. I bet it's not much!

  • I just think the TTK dlc should be more like $20, $40 is over the top.

  • Sadly, only one way to get Bungievision to change: Don't buy their DLC's. Since most people will not do that (myself included), nothing will change over the 10 years of this partnership.

then next time wait 1 year before playing the game.. oh you understand now that being able to play 1 year before had a price.. i'm paid the initial destiny 70€, now you can find the disc new for 20€ everywhere. that's life. i enjoy it day 1 and this have a price. the people who will start playing it in 3 month, will NEVER know what it is to run VoG/CE for specific loot week after weeks , exploring stuff , pushing atheon, meet the UberOPVexMythoclast , go under the ramp for the archon priest, chest/mat farming runs, etc.. they will never play the old raids at the level they should play them. and they will be like 1 year behind your exotic collection. they will never experience this like we did and this had a price man. (or is priceless if you prefer) PS: although i paid for destiny + CE + HoW , i pre ordered the physical collector edition on amazon for 80€ and i am happy with it.

      • Paying too much for video games, compared to slavery or the holocaust? Yea, it's probably best you walk away from this game. All games.

        • 100% agree with you. I paid $95 ($60 game, $35 expansion pass) for what I have now. TTK is $40. The bundle is $60. $60 - $40 = $20. So, Bungie charged me $95 for what they now sell for $20? I know stuff depreciates, but a full game and 2 dlc's originally sold for $95 do not depreciate to $20 in under a year. That's just a dishonest, crappy move. I will not be buying TTK.

Are you new to life? I'm sorry, but this just seems so naive. This is marketing 101 stuff here. They are trying to grab the people who passed on Destiny first time, and leaving the price of entry at $140 won't do that. The core game and DLCs don't have their same "value" now because Activision/Bungie has already recouped their sunk cost, so there is no reason for them to not offer a cheap bundle. It's easy profit. I'm not going to say the $40 is a reasonable price point for the Taken King. But the price of the old content included in a bundle isn't really relevant to that at this point. Also, comparing the price of a video game which is entirely optional and a luxury to something like slavery or the holocaust is completely ludicrous.

          • Well said sir. I'm in your corner. I brake it down more simply: Destiny legendary edition for noobs 60 dollars for 4 bits of content, thats 15 dollars each. Taken King on its own for day one older players 40 dollars. What the actual fukk?

            • Nothing is free kid and you are looking at this wrong. Your friend buys your old cellphone and pays the same price for the new content. Depreciation is a son of a gun.

                • I think I'm in the same boat as a lot of ppl here. Been playing since release, love the game, came back to it after multiple other releases. But, and just me saying this, when ttk drops im out. Unless something changes. Just not the game for me. I'll be investing in something new vs building in my characters here at an added price.

                • I'm in exactly the same boat as you, but people don't realise as time goes on things get cheaper, the game would of been out for a year, if you bought a car would you expect it to have the same value a year later? It's a deluxe edition of the game, which most games do, how many people do you think would invest $140 into a year old game, it's business, profit comes first, which is what a business thinks and so would you

                • I get that games depreciate in value, I do. But considering that 20 million people play this game, it shouldn't cost this low after a single year.

                • I get what he's saying. Where's the appreciation? He makes lot of good points as far as what day 1 players have put up with and what we will continue to put up with. I to wish that there would be something for those of us that have been there since the beginning but I don't see it happening. My biggest hang up was the price for 1 dlc as compared to the first dlc bundle. And it seems like to me we got more from the first dlc at a lower cost then we will on the 2nd. It's all about money for bungie and that's bums me out. Just my opinion.

                • The collectors edition was coming a long mile away, people have been talking about buying the collectors edition since before the game came out a year ago so they could have all the content at a bargain, i.e. the proverbial GOTY edition. You're just pointlessly complaining about something game companies have been doing since last gen over an $80 dollar difference in the timespan of a year.
