  • I've been waiting for FFVII to impress me, it looks good so far. FF lost me at 6 and I never got back on the bandwagon. I was a huge fan of the earlier games, 3, 4 and 5 are my favorites... But 6 and later felt constricted and 7, turned the series into pretty backgrounds in a series of closed tube-like levels. I keep buying them anyway (usually used) and I haven't finished one since the remake of 3 on the DS. I have some pretty high hopes for 15. I tried the demo again last week and it felt better, though the combat is still baffling to me. My AI party members seems to be largely suicidal and if you don't disengage at some point, you can end up in endless battles. I fought a pack of those grazing things for 2 game days, as I was constantly interrupted by soldiers during the day and imps/dogs at night. Eventually I ran back to camp and gained like 10 levels. Anyway, I hope 7 ends up being amazing.
