Both are strict compared to U.S. standards, but lenient compared to European. Handgun ownership in Canada is common enough, and semi-auto rifles can be had with magazine restrictions. They can even own ARs of a sort.
Switzerland is more lenient, but their service rifle has to be converted to semi-auto only if they intend to keep it.
