Back in my day 'twas the only way to do it.
And yes I cheesed the Templar and atheon a few times, and exploited the oracles some but its what we did in my day. Simpler times we didn't need a prison. To be a guardian wasn't the cool thing it's what we did to push back the evil. So we did and you are welcome.
