I'll not knock the armed service of our country ever but you are over defending a tad. While some joking for the experience and patriotism a lot do it purely for the perks. Had a friend who was in the air force who went around acting like he was the greatest gift to America. He did not go in any combat zone and was laid up in Japan for most of his time. Non combatants and combatants can act like such entitled pricks even though they chose to join the services. Older veterans, the ones who were drafted, the ones whose lives were disrupted without choice and followed through the call of duty. They deserve the most thanks. Tl;Dr I appreciate the armed services and never said otherwise.
