Etheric lights and re-rolling.. Dont do it!
So i just re-rolled my 365 efrideet's spear that i had upgraded with etheric light.. Now my weapon is 272/331 again :( So i used one of these very sought after materials to upgrade my weapon to the new highest stat but when i re-roll it for new/other perks it goes back to 331? That is some BS!
EDIT OF ALL EDITS: PRE HOW IB WEAPONS!! IB WEAPONS!! IB!!
Edit: There is a difference between upgrade and ascension. TELL ME WHERE IT SAYS I WILL LOOSE THE ASCENDED STAT on my pre HoW IB weapons..
Edit 2: Go to the gunsmith yourself to re-roll an IB WEAPON before you make another stupid comment.

On a happier note I just rolled a Salvation State 3 times got full auto, armor piercing, high caliber, feather mag and firefly. Ascend? Ummmmmmmmm DUH!!!!!!!! DEATH MACHINE! Hell yes!

Or got it back when you re roll. Read. I'm not going to rag. I'm sure I've done stupid s*** not knowing. I've also seen peeps dismantle Variks weapons expecting a mote and EL. REALLY?

Do people even read anymore? It clearly says when you hover over the weapon on the Gunsmith that reforming will reset any progression or ascension in the weapon

Umm it was well stated a month ago during review stating any progress will be reset. I swear no one reads or pays attention. You know paying attention is free right!?

When you re roll a weapon it resets your stats and then you must build it up again. Why would you re roll it before upgrading it?

It clearly states that all progress and [b]ascension[/b] will be lost, this process is irreversible. Perhaps read prior to doing something and then coming to the forums complaining.

Regardless of whether or not it says anything regarding Ascended weapons, it's well known that re-rolling items will reset their progress. In fact, I'm pretty sure the warning says something to that effect. You have to use mats to ascend something. Resetting will return it to it's original stats. You goofed. That's on you, not Bungie. You're either naive, ignorant, or both if you thought there would be a different outcome.

You do both via the upgrade screen and while it doesn't say specifically you'll lose the ascension, it does say it resets all progress on the weapon. I just assumed that ascending it counted as progress. You don't get any shards or material back if you reroll a 331 weapon but it still resets the perks you unlocked. Also the pre HoW spear has a different set of perks than the new one, so its still at base a 331 sniper with the pre HoW perk tree, your just bumping the damage up to the maximum.

I mean, you said it yourself that Etheric Light is a pretty scarce material right now. Dumb. Edit: To be fair, I guess it is a little unclear on how the whole process works. I made a similar (dumb) mistake when trying to upgrade my MIDA using Xur the second week of TDB. I ended up dismantling it. But yeah, hard lesson learned. Make Damn sure you're ready to keep your roll before ascending.
