Nerf or remove Gjallarhorn!
For too long the Gjallarhorn has been a crutch for PvE players! All I can see on the recruitment channel LFG's is 'must have maxed out Gjallarhorn' it's been this way for quite some time! Bungie need to step up, either nerf this weapon or even better the addition of new go to weapons with a slight increase in drop rate. There needs to be more variation, similarly just as PvP has Thorn, PvE has the Gjallarhorn. Why are we being forced into using these 'go to' weapons! Good job Bungie!
This may look like a whine post (and you might be right) but you know deep down I'm stating a legitimate fact!

You are not "forced" to use anything. There are those that want to do things and then there are those that want to do things efficiently; Gjallarhorns fall in the hands of the latter.

5 Replies[WARNING: UNPOPULAR OPINION] First off, I am a 365 gally owner, and have been for a while. But, I will say it does its job (single target damage) very well, maybe [i] too [/i] well. Gally is one of the main reasons why burn strategies are possible, and it makes many strike bosses trivial, at best. It, in my opinion, does a bit too much damage. I know people would hate to see it nerfed, but it, as it currently stands, out damages other launchers by miles (unless a non solar burn is active, in which case other launchers merely [i] match [/i] it). With guns like black hammer (which I know isn't a perfect replacement for icebreaker) and fatebringer, there is little reason [i] not [/i] to unequip ghallarhorn. So, we're faced with two options. One, nerf ghally. Two: buff other exotics to make them PvE monsters. A way I thought to nerf ghallarhorn, without technically modifying it's damage, is too make wolf pack rounds track different targets. For example, maybe one or two of the cluster bombs could track each target in the area, and if there is only one target, most of them would fly off randomly. Or you could nerf it's ammo count. Now, if no one wants that, then we need to buff other exotics. Maybe increase truth's damage, or add proximity/tracking to dragon's breath, swap out mulligan on icebreaker for something better, make Necro proc on body kills, etc. etc. There's a lot we could do there, but then we run the risk of causing other weapons to just take ghally's place, not fixing the problem of easy PvE content, but worsening it.

Sure the gjallarhorn is op but people only want it to speed past bosses. It can beat hordes and tough enemies, but most times it's just not needed. And in PvP the gjallarhorn is beat by many other guns (machine guns) because it's a heavy.[spoiler]I don't have a Gjallarhorn.[/spoiler]

I just got a Ghorn from an engram this week. As I got it I made a promise to never join or create a Ghorn only group.

Whining will get you nowhere in life. A waste of time my fellow guardian. Now grinding is how gjallarhorn is recieved and enjoyed. The feeling of getting your first is incredible because of the beast she is. Destiny wouldn't be the frontrunner that it is if gjallarhorn was tampered with. There is always the option to just play another game, you aren't being held hostage.

How dare anyone demand that I should have a max void sniper for Skolas. #sarcasm tbh I hope they make another slightly op heavy so Gjallahorn isn't lonely. If you have 2 great options at least a player is likely to get one. Btw most people aren't asking for Gjally for void burn skolas. I know Gjally isn't required for me this week's 35 when I post for my groups.
