Is Qodron even possible for 33s?? (Post from 6/1/15)

Edit: OLD POST from week 2 of HoW pre-nerf when Qodron was 34 boss. That's why this post is about level 33s My fireteam and I got out asses handed to us today. Let me start by saying, we were all level 33s, but very capable PvE players. I can solo Crota, nightfalls, and I've soloed both weeks of PoE 32. I can't speak for the others in my fireteam, but they weren't any less capable than me. We made it through the first 4 rounds with relative ease. We even had great teamwork going during the fallen section, 2 of us alternating constant bubbles, spawning tons of orbs, and the other guy using golden gun with celestial nighthawk. Borderline dominant. Had a couple wipes here and there but it was not a struggle whatsoever to make it to Qodron. .....then shit hit the fan. Before we knew about Qodrons Eye, we started shooting the detainment shields when they showed up, just like any VoG vets would, and didn't come close to bringing them down. So obviously we learn that we have to go kill his eye to get the buff. It's was still nearly impossible to take the shield down. We could do it but barely. And the hardest part was just finding Qodrons Eye in the MASS CHAOS going on around us. Seriously Bungie, did you really need to put that many hobgoblins???? 2 snipes killed us, and we were getting shot at from all directions. A lot of the time, we couldn't find him in time, and then when we did find him, we died trying to kill him; leaving us very few chances to even break the detainment shields. And then ANOTHER eye spawns immediately with more ads?? I thought we would at least get to finish off a wave a deal some damage to Qodron before trying to find another eye. Nope. It was constant. Spent so might time worrying about that, when do you ever get enough time to deal damage to Qodron? After over half an hour of wipes, and still didn't make it past the second eye spawn, we gave up. It was just nuts. I've never seen something that seemed so insurmountable. We only had 2 GHorns and even with weapons of light, 14 rockets only took him out about a 5th of his health. So doing the GHorn burn strat just was feasible. TL;DR Waytoo many hobs. Way too many other ads Had a hard time with detainment shields even with the buff Only 2 GHorns. Seriously, has anyone been able to beat this as only a group of 33s? If so, please let me know how. I'm not going to try again tonight, but I'd just like to know.

    • Yes. If you pay attention to qodron's eye and his whereabouts, there should be no reason to struggle

      • It's deff possible as a 33. My fire team and I ran it back before they nerfed the hell outta him. That was hard and it was 34 Poe and we were all 33. You should of seen the containment fields then. It was stupid hard. Just make sure you got a good shotti ascended preferably. And stick together. Youl be alright.

          • for detainment shields, there are two solutions, a 365 shotgun with 5-6 rounds, found verdict is perfect, or use super good advice, you'll get almost all your ammo back because it doesn't count as hits.. When you have jailbreak and you see the pop up for the searching for targets, you should all get together, makes it easier as you'll all fire on the same shield at the same time. Otherwise, basically have one person focus on damaging the boss and two others that deal with adds and then fire at quadron when they have a chance. A good strat is to find the eye, and then shoot its head off , it will then charge straight for you, if you do it right, wait till it gets right up next to you and then kill it, that way you milk the time as much as possible and don't end up with only 2 seconds of jailbreak. Oh, go to the right when you come out the door, the map is a bit more clear on that side and makes it easier to see.

          • We beat him on our secondaries as 33s. You should look up Datto's strategy for it, it works way more reliably than any gjallarhorn burn. Just practice communication and you'll find it to be very easy.

          • Kill the Eye of Quodron and get the buff. Super Good Advice will drop the detainment shield for all 3 players even without the buff. That whole fight is easy as -blam!- and I don't see how people think is so hard. They nerfed the guy for crying out loud.

          • He is pretty easy just tedious. Stick together, make sure you kill the eye with correct timing. Bring a shotgun for the detainment shields. A rocket isn't even necessary, my second run through this week I used invective and corrective measure and it worked out just as well as when I used found verdict and truth.

First time i beat him, week 2 of HoW i think it was, we did it with a team of three 33s.
We had done it twice with our 34 characters though.. All 3 of us had two 34s and one 33.
We did it pretty easy. I was the only one with Gjallarhorn too! So you don't even need it. My teammates were using Corrective Measures. (Both 365). One of them was using Felwinter's Lie, and me and the other used black hammer. My teammates, especially the one with the shotgun, kept an Eye on the blue goblin (Quodron's Eye or whatever he is called)
Shoot his head off! That will make him rush you!
His job was to kill the Goblin and save us. We did the damage. If he would die my other teammate with the Corrective Measure would take care of the goblin. And i was that coward who stood still in the corner (right side btw) and black hammered him. I think we had to wipe twice, but it isn't that hard as long as you get the mechanics of that arena! Shooting the head off the blue bastard can be very useful! Edit: didn't see the date of this post. I guess this was the first time Quodron was the 34. Second week of HoW. Someone had necrobumped it, but here you have a good tactic anyway!

          • i beat this what you should do is when enter go to the far right side of the map and camp no need for the buff just shotgun your way out then light him up with your gjallahorns. reapeat process. my team did this with no gjallys but i had celestial nighthawk and golden gun

          • Personally, I've found the right side to work better than the left. Pro's and Con's: + You only have one entrance to cover (except for harpies, but they are no the biggest threat) + The Eye seemed to be a bit more dependable on the RHS (but this might just be subjective) - Less cover from Qodron's splash The number 1 thing you must do is huddle together behind cover when you see the "Qodron is searching for targets" notification. Shots penetrate the bubbles, so if you are all together, then when you shoot your own bubble, you'll also be hitting the bubbles of your allies. With this it's even possible to get all three out of bubbles without the Jailbreaker buff, although you shouldn't rely on that as you'll still emerge with pretty low health and be easy fodder for Hobnobs. For bursting bubbles, I've had the best luck with automatic shotguns (Lord of Wolves is nice because you get a lot of ammo and bursting a bubble procs the recovery boost) although high any high impact weapon (i.e. sniper, fusion, HMG) seems to do pretty well. Primaries don't seem to have enough punch to be effective. Rockets...well...if I need to tell you, you're probably beyond help ;) Heavy synths will make your life easier. The longer the fight drags on, the more chance you'll have for things to go wrong, so you want to get it done quickly. Have one person focus on finding/slaying the eye, another covering the one entrance and a third doing damage on Qodron. Rotate the last two roles as people exhaust heavy. If you have a strong player, he can do the eye and cover the entrance alone while the other two hit Qodron and jump to his aid when required. Communicate well when you need help, particularly with the eye - better that the "wrong" person gets it than no one gets it at all. Personally, I always save 1 rocket for taking down the eye in an emergency situation. Use supers often to generate orbs. Hunters are better off with gunslinger to take out Hobnobs or the Eye. Titans should pop WoD, but be careful not to pop one just before getting trapped in bubble or you might find yourself unable to hit your own bubble. Also don't pop the WoD behind cover - the WoD is cover and it gives you one less place to take refuge when Qodron searches for targets. Blessings is probably better than Weapons for this one.

          • As 34s you can break the bubble with a shotgun without the jail breaker perk, you make it out with around a quarter of your health

          • 1 person watches for eye, 1 person on add control, 1 person on boss control. right as you walk in go in the corridor where the enemies spawn, kill them and stay there. the eye will walk to you pretty much. 1 person gets jail breaker, once it says searching for target everyone huddles up close so person w/ jail breaker perk can break the team out. Rinse and repeat while damaging the boss. Over in ten minutes.

          • I dont remember what modifers were on, and im sure they would make a big difference, but when i did it we had 1 person on each activity, one person searching for the eye constantly (he normally spawns behind quadron but he may spawn somewhere else at times, havwnt figured out what spot quite yet) and he was also in charge of the bubbles, best to have a shotgun or icebreaker. When quodron searches stack up and everyone shoot the bubbles. Second member focus' on adds the entire time, whatever weapon setup their most comfortable with. And the last soul is left to dps quodron the whole time. They may be time for the other two guardians to focus on quodron, but this should be your guys focus 95% of the time and you should have some luck. Hope this helps

Doin this boss legit isn't enjoyable in any aspect. I thank god I own a gally cuz I'd just skip it every week lol! Bungie has to know no one finds this encounter fun, its just a cluster f^ck of yellow hobs and constantly spottin the eye you miss the eye, its pretty much a wipe. It is doable with 33 tho i did it twice a couple weeks back but so help me god the gally method is a time saver

            • Did it with a 29 and 30 last time he was on 32 was a cake walk. We dropped the eye instant every time we saw him in the end three of us had jailbreak almost constantly on so we never worried about the sheild we just hung left and stayed in cover as a pack for detainment. Loved it unmatched thirty four. As a thirty two patched it's still fun just too short!

            • Stay together on the left side . The eye robot will teleport near you. One guy equip a shotgun and the rest dps the boss. Every time I saw the eye I would run up to him with a shotgun take him out in one shot take cover, you might also want to do a little lap circle for special ammo. If we get bubbled I'll help my friend shoot the bubble down. Then focus again on the boss and I'll watch out for the eye vex robots. That's basically it nothing special just time consuming.
