The Player: Chapter 5 Part 1

A conservation between Cayde-6 and Ikora Rey: "Ikora..what are we going to do about the Guardians?" "They are progressing nicely." "No, the veterans." "What have they been doing, Cayde?" "Don't tell me you haven't noticed." "Oh, sweetie, I can feel the tension from them." "They seem to have some disagreements with the players." "I believe that's our problem, we are simply separating them into different categories. The Speaker said it himself, Cayde, they're Guardians all the same." "They are different, have you seen what they can do? One of my kids mastered invisibility two days after he got here, two flipping days! And then he went on and started blinking all over the place." "You still owe us for that, by the way." "Well..thank you, I'll think of something. Any progress for yours?" "You do know I only take the elite of Warlocks." Ikora said it as a declaration rather than a question. "That's what I meant." "I have one, and he's doing well." "How well, Ikora?" Ikora Rey thought for a moment, was she to tell Cayde of Quinn? She didn't see why not, he was a good friend. Warlock and Hunters went way back. "He made Arc energy, Cayde." "He what?! What is this Guardian's name? I'll get him to fight my hunter." "Cayde! Restrain yourself-." "But Ikora! This could be legendary! An Arc team of Guardians would kick some serious ass! We can have my Hunter fight your Warlock, and then we can judge them for a fireteam!" "Cayde..please calm down." Cayde-6, Vanguard of the Hunters stood up and began pacing, obviously very excited. "We can do it now!" "Cayde it's two in the morning!" "Yeah! And?" "Dear Lord, Cayde," Ikroa hesitated before exclaiming, "fine!" "Yes!" Cayde-6 ran off out of the Hall of the Guardians, and nearly ran into a wall, then skidded out of sight. Ikora sighed and crossed her arms, she had to admit, Cayde was very childish. She suddenly became serious when she thought of the political relations between the Guardians and the players. I've heard some nasty remarks, she thought. Just like flipping training school all over again. Ikora shuddered in memory of that horrible place. --- "Hey, rookie!" A child no more than thirteen turned to face the group of veteran Guardians. They were about the age of senior college kids. "What's up?" "C'mere, we've got this dare for you!" This enticed the kid, he was no one to turn down a dare. "Oh yeah? What's that?" The kid changed his demeanor to something very prideful. "Look out that window, just stand on that ledge right over there." "Seriously?" The boy moved over, grasped onto the edges of the wall window, and stood on the ledge. There was the noise of someone walking toward me him, there was laughter, and the boy turned to face the veteran Guardian deliver a kick. --- Quinn woke when he heard glass breaking, he barely registered a scream. He rushed out of bed even though he was in his underwear, "Casper!" Quinn threw a pencil at his ghost, which missed but got the ghost awake. "What? I'm tired." "You're a robot with feelings, you can't get tired." "Tired is a feeling!" Quinn opened his cell door and ran to the nearest place with glass, which were the wall windows. He saw the windowpane shattered, and looked out of the window; Qunn just saw darkness. He shrugged and herded his ghost back to bed, but not after calling a cleaning robot. Dawn came swiftly, and the red tinted sky reminded the world of blood. _________________________________ I didn't sleep for long when there was a knock on my cell door. I was too tired to get it, so I called, "please, It's like three in the morning, and I'm kind of sleeping." "It's Cayde-6, Vanguard of the Hunters." "Oh...that changes things. What would you like, sir?" "I want you to fight my best Hunter!" Cayde sounded unusually excited, not that I had heard from him before. "I'm sleeping, and they're probably sleeping as well." "Get your lazy ass up, Quinn!" A different voice shouted. I sighed in annoyance, these Cults, man. "Casper! I'm going out, sweetie." "Never call me that again, Quinn, ever." Casper was just a big grump. I moved to the mirror and fixed my mild bedhair before putting on my training clothes, which still consisted of the pants. The only change was the silver robe that was required when joining the Warlock Cult. I opened the door to the Exo and Hunter, the Hunter had dark hair, it was hard to really place the color in the dark. I did see some brown eyes though, but they weren't at all kind, probably from being awakened so early. He donned the required Hunter gear, which seemed to suit his demeanor nicely. "This is the Arc Warlock? I bet he wasn't even 32." "Was that a challenge, -blam!-?" "With that robe, you look like a bad cosplay." "I swear to-." "Break it up ladies, take it out in the battlefield." "Fine." The Hunter and I said in unison, then growled at each other. I'm not even going to bother learning anything about him, but instinct tells me Bladedancer. The Hunter's hood his his face from me when we passed under the moonlight. I was glad to know the window was fixed, which was strangely quick for the team of janitors, I wonder what they were doing up so late... A walk of awkward silence and pointed death glares finally got us to the training room without ripping each other's throats out. Where Cayde gladly blurted out, "okay, okay, I'm going to get Ikora, don't kill each other!" The Hunter and I exchanged glares. "Bye!" Cayde ran out of the room. "A.S.L." The Hunter demanded. "Fourteen, a dude obviously, and I lived in Ohio." "...Fifteen, I'm a dude...I lived in Illinois." "Do you need a hug? Because you sound like you need a hug." "Well, let's see, I lost everything I ever loved and cared about in a second. And guess what! I'm in a death sentence!" "You're not the only one, you know?! I've had things I cared about too, we've all had, it's not like you can be the only one with problems!" That was fast, like, wow; already got my temper going, and right when we got some kind of leverage, too! "I'm baaaaack!" Cayde's jolly exo voice called. "I'm Thomas, by the way." The Hunter said. "I'm going to murder you, Cayde." Ikora grumbled. "That's a lot of narcissism." I pointed out, where everyone looked at me, obviously not getting my joke. "Anyways, on a side note, don't kill each other!" Cayde shouted, and before I could ask why, I was smashed in the face with Thomas's fist. "Ow! What's your problem, anyways?" I yelled, and the only answer I got was a nice kick to the ribs, to which I growled angrily. I barely dodged the next punch, to which he countered and another punch to the face occurred. "You're so cool, aren't you? Getting all that stupid recognition!" His punches hurt, but I couldn't get him off of me, even when I kicked his back or pushed him. "Who knew somebody could be so weak!" Thomas growled sadistically. "Tho-." "Cayde, no. He must learn." I didn't hear much from the punching, but I heard Thomas's voice clearly, and for one thing, no one calls me weak. I anticipated his next punch, since he had been getting into the gist of things and not choosing different locations for his right hand. I saw him drawback, and Thomas glared, he probably expected to finish me off now. Unfourtanetly, that was failed when I caught his wrist and dragged him to the floor. Thomas yelped, and again when his wrist was to the side, and nothing when I slammed his face into the ground, where I heard a nice bone cracking crunch. "See?" "God damn, I want him for the Hunters." "He's purely Warlock." I stood up and looked over Thomas's body, when he followed my example, Thomas looked almost starved. He faced me slowly, blood stained his face, his brown eyes glared at me with complete hatred. I gave him the brightest smile I could muster, and that's when I don't remember seeing the room so empty. I saw Ikora and Cayde to my right, the well lit training room, but, where did Thomas go? "Boo."
Post limit needs to stop, part 2 by the way. MAKE SURE TO USE THE TAG TO FIND MY FIC, FAVORITE IT, IM TOO LAZY TO MAKE A GIANT LINK TO ALL THE PARTS!
