They did plenty of good, they were hard times in those days and while the british empires methods were questionable they still brought stability to otherwise chaotic regions

You just hate the British empire and are coming up with any excuse to discredit it as an empire, aren't you? They explored most of Africa, colonised America and discovered Australia and New Zealand. Modern America might not even be here right now if they hadn't colonised it.
