Mostly everyone is bashing him for the idea of raising minimum wage. News flash; if minimum wage had kept up with inflation, it would be $23 right now.
Bernie isn't saying that a service worker should make as much as a worker with a degree. If you think about it logically, if minimum wage gets bumped to $15, then every business with degree-qualified employees will pay their employees more, so that they don't run off to work fast food jobs.
You can say whatever you want, but no business owner should be making more than all of his employees combined. No person working a full time job should be on or under the poverty level, period. Unfortunately this is how America is right now, and it needs to change.
Service work should = paying bills with a small but fair amount of cash left over
Degree-qualified work should = paying bills with a nice bundle of cash left over
Manager/CEO work should = paying bills with a fairly large sum of cash left over
Of course this is simplified but you get the meaning. Debate?
