I've been playing for a little while, the first mimic chest I didn't see, but it was only a matter of time. That thing was evil, is there anyway to escape?

There is a way to escape a mimic grab without dying! :D You need to rapidly press all of the trigger buttons on your controller. You will be dropped faster than if you hadn't pressed the buttons. This works the same for any grab. You will take damage, but it will be greatly lessened.

Oh, I remember hearing that about those bugs in the demon ruins, but when I wrote this I was playing Dark Souls 2, does it work for both games?

It works for all games, including Bloodborne! Bloodborne's is slightly different though, don't know how
