I can agree with the philosophy because the philosophy is about being engaged and active within the community. To provide optional matchmaking creates a condition environment I don't like. I'd rather people be on the computer, feeding more information to the player base who wants more specific conditions then rolling the dice to see if I'll be put in a match with one or more players with a mic and make callouts for raids, strikes, or any of the endgame content.

  • yet another elitist who cannot see the bigger picture and only looks out for themselves, we of the optional mm community only desire the option to use mm or a in game lfg system or a system like this one https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/129939506/0/0, you would in no way suffer from it unless you use it
yet another elitist who cannot see the bigger picture and only looks out for themselves,
A quick view of your profile indicates a lower grimoire then I, no distinguished clan to be associated with, and posting history indicating you are more the elitist then I. It's all fine and dandy to say something, but don't think you can sound so correct when you don't know anything about me.
we of the optional mm community only desire the option to use mm or a in game lfg system or a system like this one https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/129939506/0/0, you would in no way suffer from it unless you use it
There is no "we" you speak of. I understand you want Optional matchmaking. I have already explained this piece in another thread, but I'll link it here for you. Lastly. I have been around the block more times then I care to admit to and my experience? Tells me this:
Matchmaking as it stands right now is built around getting people into the CONVERSATION of doing other things. During the early days of VoG, people literally messaged each other if someone wanted to do VoG. It's how I got most of my completions over 50+ before Crotas End came out. I still get invites for VoG people, still complete it with them, and why is that? Because the players going into it don't expect to be carried without a mic. Or know to be communicating about the minotaur locations. Or oracle center mid has spawned randomly. Or that the gatekeeper is moving towards their backside. So no. People who want to do raids will find ways to do raids. That AUTOMATICALLY separates those who are willing to complete the hard challenges of multi-tasking many groups I've been involved in couldn't do it and yes. I called the raids. Told them to get us to orbit. This has been a fundamental philosophy surrounding raids in ANY game: Not everyone is expected or capable to complete them. Same as nightfalls. How many Halo players tried to do every mission LASO? How many? Here's the correct answer in ANY Halo game: 7.3% for Halo 3. How many actually completed? 2%. People who want to do nightfalls will find the means to do nightfalls based on the difficulties presented in the raids, nightfalls, and PoE ratings.
I am sorry you want that solution above. Sorry that I know it can't work both in terms of networking creating new error codes for people to be booted primarily based on the router and server connections on the end user level as well as the second reason that you are advancing AFCers, lag switchers, and other forms of intentional or non-intentional cheating. I am looking for the solutions. Right now? That means people who actually WANT to do a raid? Will find the means to do the raid. 35 PoE? They will FIND a way through the many resources available to play that. This is actually something that Mike Rowe recently spoke about. I get that you feel otherwise most likely, but I think you should read this because you are VERY much sounding like you are spoiled: http://www.tpnn.com/2015/02/08/mike-rowe-weighs-in-on-the-demand-for-a-minimum-wage-increase-in-a-way-that-only-he-can/ Now switch out the topic of minimum wage with your advocacy of Optional matchmaking or matchmaking anything in general with the simple question of: Am I sounding like that article? Do I sound entitled? If you answer yes? Simply change that. We don't need more of that. I simply need a good conversation. Take it easy kiddo.

  • And how will optional MM change that for you? That's right. It won't! You can continue to play and form teams just like you do now. A point everyone seems to miss?

  •
I can agree with the philosophy because the philosophy is about being engaged
This is true in life also. The first step is the effort. Once you've worked for something, even a little bit, you're more involved in its progress. You're more willing to press the opportunity and validate ur effort and those in ur fireteam. To press a button for content is not involved and therefore the outcome is typically beyond ur care. There's always an hour from now, or tomorrow and the next day...

  • I don't. But I don't adhere to the anti-Bungie sentiment I see all over the place either. If you want to benefit people? Do what makes the situation work BEST. Optional matchmaking does not solve the area I am concerned with? Sorry then. Start the compromise process to include search parameters.

  • If Bungie put in Optional MM they could also put in filters that can help fit you into a group that has the best chance of being a match for you. They could put in a MM preference page that would allow you to select Mic's Only, or perhaps Warlocks only, or lowest/highest level to play with. They could possibly even match you with players that have certain weapons. In fact they could even check all of these things far faster than an LFG site and if you want statistical based MM, nobody has more statistics about player capabilities than Bungie does for it's Destiny players (and they are more accurate than any player entered statistics). The best part is that it could be optional. So you could still bring in your own team if you wanted to use an external LFG.

  •
If Bungie put in Optional MM they could also put in filters that can help fit you into a group that has the best chance of being a match for you.
You don't know how the internet works over Xbox. Those parameters you specify? Saying that matchmaking will solve that? We had that solution once and Bungie implemented it. Halo 3 and Halo: Reach had that. What did you see? Reviews, complaints, and negative commentary which showed people still found bad matchings all the time. So no. I want a SOLUTION to make it work. Not just specifying parameters. That means going back to the drawing board and figuring out what else CAN be done.
The best part is that it could be optional. So you could still bring in your own team if you wanted to use an external LFG.
Their is a reason why those parameters have not been adopted by many FPS games so far. I work with IT networking elements all the time. Keep adding more and more parameters only adds to the stress on the system. What is the point of having all you labeled if you are twice as likely to be booted with an error code?

Do you understand they could Modify Optional MM to include settings which could find you players you are looking for? There are so many ways we can come up with to make MM work. Again you want a community engaged to helping and joining up together. That is called meetups.com. lol this is a GAME made to have FUN PLAYING. Not to work and be part of something bigger. I understand the game is called Destiny but people are taking it too far and making it more than a game. This is intended for Teenagers you know that right? Namaste.

Not to work and be part of something bigger.
If the effort table on you is that complicated and lazy to not want something more? That is fine. But the thing is? I've had a lot of experience over FPS on console and PC. It's not that simple. It's not even guaranteed to work over phone connection lines which many console gamers rely on. You need better technology present for it not to crash. I currently work on networking elements for installs and maintenance for seven clients ranging from government to dental offices. It doesn't work like that and the more options you specify at the end user level? The more complicated and difficult to gets for the serves to work due to router capabilities in your own home. What is the point of having all those search parameters when you are guaranteed to have a network connection time out about halfway through every match or every ten minutes by patrol time?
