Oh, you are referring to Leviticus 11. Those were the rules instructed by God written by Moses to the Hebrews (now modern day Israelites or Israelis). They were instructed to not eat specific animals because of the animal's daily diet; thus, it was unhealthy or unclean. For the sake of spreading the gospel not only to Israel but also to the Gentiles (anyone who isn't a descendant of Abraham). Read Acts 10 for an exhibition, starting at verse 14 if you wish (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+10&version=NASB).
How it was explained to me was the Israelites were daft and stubborn and needed very strict rules so that they wouldn't do anything stupid.
Pork back then was "impure" because it was generally worm ridden because they didn't have good food handling techniques compares to today.
The Bible says that the old covenant, the rules set for the Israelites, no longer applies to us and we have a new covenant that Jesus made for us.
It wasn't because the Hebrews were stupid. It was because they didn't have the knowledge or the means to eat every animal without getting sick. It was the same purpose as to why they couldn't eat catfish. The Reason: They're scavengers.
