I REALLY hope you realize what raising minimum wage up to 15$ an hour would do to our country..

That would be nice.

It is true that an increase to $15/hour is very extreme. Even the economists who do favor an increase support a more modest bump to $10.10, and allow for localities to set a wage based on what the cost of living is in their specific areas. In general, economists favor an expansion/redesign of the Earned Income Tax Credit to an increase in minimum wage, since there are no effects to employment and the EITC could be better targeted at the poor. It seems like a compromise is the best solution.

Move wages closer to cost of living?
-
Hahahahahahaha
-
The world will implode and every business will close its doors! You know what we should do? Just pay labour nothing. Think of all the jobs that can be made? The hysteria over the $15 minimum wage is bonkers. Do you realize it would be instituted over a period of years (case in point Seattle)? By the time every business is mandated to pay $15 an hour it wouldn't even be seen as a huge deal. In fact by the time we do get to $15 an hour there will be calls for $20.

Yeah then your beloved McDonald's won't have your beloved Dollar menu

as opposed to keeping it where it is, where it's doing a TON of good for us?
/s
Edited by ShadowScope11208: 5/27/2015 10:08:32 PMI work at least 48 hours a week in a factory job at 9 an hour. My partner operator makes 15 an hour. If they raised minimum wage, everything else would inflate in response. It'd be nice to make more money but only if it didn't make living more pricey than it is

See we have an intelligent person in teh floof
-
Why do people not understand this...
-
I don't know man ...
-
I gauge 17 out of the 18 replies are from people who work at Mcdonalds.
-
I'll have you know I work as a cashier at Food Lion. The nerve of some people...
-
I gauge you are 14 years old.
-
And you sir are a manager at Mcdonalds
-
lol hell no I work half as hard and make twice as much. Have a little respect for workers in the service industry, or maybe you don't believe the service industry even deserves to exist?
-
So manager at Burger king? Oh okay I see.
-
If you can dodge a question you can dodge a Whopper.

And who would know more about wether one can live off of that wage? The CEO, the one who works for that wage, or someone not involved with that field besides what they think makes them an expert on all things economic?
-
McDonald's isn't meant to be a livable wage I believe in Henry Fords Model of being able to buy what you build. McDonalds "builds" burgers so they should be paid as such. Which they are.
-
I agree, however when you can only afford a couple of burgers from the dollar menu, some kind of wage increases need to happen. Not an increase to $15 no, 10 or 12 dollars would be more reasonable.
-
Any company that can't afford to provide a living wage isn't a legitimate company.
-
providing a livable wage? oh the horror!
-
That's not the point. It would hurt the economy greatly
-
Edited by Britton: 5/27/2015 10:33:28 PMActually it would help the economy greatly. The more money more people have to spend the better the economy is. I don't agree on a federal level increase in the minimum wage, but understand what you say before you say it.
