Hey, just take a look at all of the ships, too. They look like they were made from concept art drawn by a seven year old, with all the "add more guns!" and silly details. I feel you, man. But when you really look at the design of Destiny, it's pretty obvious that "rule of cool" took precedence over any other design guideline. I mean, it does end up being pretty cool as result, but I know exactly how hard it is to not think about everything.
