Destiny is ment for XB1/PS4( of course last gen consoles as well). Deej gave the following in reply to Optional MM:
At current, our philosophy about endgame content is that part of the challenge includes forming up a team. This is a strong community filled with players who are looking for teammates. Why not seek each other out here and band together?

Why not Seek each other out here and band together?
The game is ment for the consoles said above but yet deej and the gang want us to use A PC website or Mobile APP that is MANUAL MM than having to work and implement OPTIONAL MM in Game. Does that make sense to you guardians? Do understand Optional MM would in no way negatively affect gameplay;since it is Optional you can choose to form teams or apply for one. Next Gen consoles are suppose to be better than last gen. How is using tools out of console to play games in the console reasonable? They do not even have a PC version of the Game. Not all 12 year olds have cell phones(targeted audience).
part of the challenge includes forming up a team.
What deej is saying is. " We don't have enough content to keep you interested for this 10 year plan, so we decided to extend gameplay by putting up barriers such as no Chat Box or Optional MM for Almost all Endgame content because we want it to be challenging." Do you think the game is challenging enough without having to look for a team guardians? Do you understand that this game is in no way dependent upon Using a Mic and having friends? Shoot, jump, Super, Rez not that hard to do. Especially when it is only from a PUSH of a button. Players are not incompetent and do not need to be hand held through an entire strike or raid ect. The only reason for the comment deej posted about Optional MM is the following: They want us to play the game the way they want us too. Meaning they don't care if we like it or not. And as many times as we have given positive feedback to help the game, they only reply ONCE(No Discussion) to those that INTEREST them like patching the cheeses but not fixing the actual bugs in the Raids, adding a purple ball to tower ect. Ect. Point is the Philosophy of Bungie Vision is Flawed. The game itself should be challenging not forming a team to play through a simple Grind. Do you guardians agree? Please leave your feedback and if there is something you like me to add by all means comment. :) Here you will find more reasons why Optional MM should be added to all Game Modes.

Great post, finding a group is my least favorite part of this game, matchmaking should be optional. My friends list is full of random strangers ive played with once and never doing what I am when I am. I have a strong feeling that they will never even comment on it again, but will slip it in as a strong selling point for destiny 2 to try to get more people to continue feeding their 10 year cash conveyor.

Here's a slick idea too. Why would they not have it set up to where after clearing the level 28 PoE, they give the group the option to continue together straight into the level 32? Wouldn't that go a long way towards increasing in-game friendships? No, our philosophy is that we want you to finish, leave and have to send invites and regroup and only run it on 32 if all the hoops are cleared. I've doubled my Destiny friends list in the last week... Because of the matchmaking they did put in. And anyone who says people won't talk are crazy. No one has talked in the level 28s I've run, but everyone has plugged in mics for the 32. People talk when content dictates they need to.

We need matchmaking nobody want to keep adding random people as friends. It gets so hard to have the same person online next time when u play. So that means add more friends and most the times your friends be doing something with other people that means add more friends. Do we have nothing else to do rather than keep adding people as friends and waste hours and hours on these stupid lfg sites.

Why not Seek each other out here and band together?
Because it's a drag, takes forever, requires a third-party site and results in being paired with two strangers anyway. Just give us a button for MM so people can use it or ignore it as they see fit.

Well said. Optional MM is exactly the same thing as finding/joining up with random players via the forums/website. Why don't people understand this? I am so tired of the argument "if you add optional MM all you'll get is AFK players". That's an invalid argument since people who want to let others do the work can likewise use the forums/sites to ride the coat tails of others. If I'm on the site looking for other solo players who want to do PoE guess what? We're random solo players looking for other random solo players. To be blunt the only people who want to ban optional MM are those who are on a misguided crusade as Destiny purists or those who get their jollies by keeping "less serious" gamers from accessing endgame content. Note: My opinion on optional MM applies only to ROC strike list, weekly heroic, nightfall and PoE. MM for VoG or CE would be an absolute joke because those are highly complex raids by comparison and would be a disaster

Why didnt they just make Destiny available for PC? I mean.....we LFG through a website....Should have just made an LFG feature in the game. I didnt buy a console game only to have to use other resources to locate fireteams.

Edit: So this was posted pre-HoW. I've since played PoE and still believe optional matchmaking should be available for the higher difficulties. I was originally matched random with 2 people who weren't talking. We beat the level 28 and they sent me an invite. They'd been in a private party chat and so we ran the 32 and beat it. Then they had to log off. If we'd been matchmade for the level 32, there'd have been absolutely no difference. Some may argue that the system worked because we beat the 28 and moved on together, but there's a problem with that. While it was great to run another, if people have to leave or can't run more and no one is on your friends list to run, then you're stuck with no way to progress without having to find randoms on LFG sites or spamming players. Also, if you're attempting a run and one person has to leave, you could also be screwed. There's no reason in that situation to not be able to queue for a third person. There is no more chance of success on lfg sites vs in game matchmaking.

Edit: So this was posted pre-HoW. I tried some lfg sites and even had a team a couple times but they didn't want someone completely new and one or more members left. That is MY experience with external lfg sites. I work a lot, 60+ hour work weeks. The times I got full groups it took 30 minutes, and then they didn't even work out. So I'm left with the choice to forego something else in my life (sleep, time with family, etc.) In order to get a group and run the raid. Running the raid will take enough time I'm certain but waiting 30 minutes before even running the raid...just doesn't make sense. So I choose to not partake in end game activities in Destiny. Optional matchmaking would at least eliminate part of that time. I recognize I still may never complete the raid whether because of afkers or just bad players (possibly myself included in that one) but at least I'd get the opportunity to try.
the List will continue to grow!! :)
Like the Post if your With me on this as many other guardians Are! • 'Finding a group is part of the challenge'..... Pahahahahaha now I think we all know who came up with the line 'I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain'! So, what, the solo guys are getting punished for not lying to their friends about how awesome this game is? Don't get me wrong, I like the game, but when I get asked about it, I'm going to mention how Bungie's main concern is money, and how their game is centred around forcing players to repeat the same content. I could lie and persuade people to buy it, to save myself the pain of LFG sites, but unlike Bungie's advertisers, I won't lie to the people who trust me.

            • Oh man, I figured it all out. Bungie has been getting bashed for lack of story telling, they keep pointing to Grimoire Cards for story. This lack of Match making or in-game LFG is to lead us to this website for a group and while we are waiting for responses we'll get bored and go read the grimoire cards... I mean, the whole reason behind no match making for Raids was because the Raids needed tactics yet strangers explained it all the time in a few minutes. This isn't other MMOs where you have Healers, Tanks and DPS who need to work together. Even then it didn't take much for the dungeons to be explained. The whole Philosophy is plan laziness. Quite sad really.

              • You people have a major flaw called Frustration where you people will come back here even if they did gave MM but you will be complaining about lag, connection, people not using mics, option to kick a person out, doing something about losing people or quitter who quit etc. you will be swarming the forum about this giving bungie more work when instead you can do the work yourself due to the reason that you won't have a program in the game stopping you from making the ideal team you need to complete certain task and by the way I don't see optional MM anytime soon due to old and new gen still being tied together. So think about the issue that their will be instead of just what you want because bungie isn't your babysitter and this isn't cod nor halo where mic aren't needed

                • You forgot to mention that some of their targeted market (12 years old) maybe be restricted from game talk by parents who are afraid of online predators and swearing sailors. So without the headset with a mic, how social does this game really get and how competitive is a pvp team without game talk? They obviously know most of us want MM, since they eventually gave the option for the weekly heroic, but i guess they didn't learn from the past. I've learned to solo all the nightfalls and actually prefer soloing now, and I've seen others solo lower level PoE, so I hope I can do the same if bungie doesn't listen to what we want.

Their game was created this way. He clearly states that part of the challenge for end game content is to form or find a group. I understand it may be annoying to some, but hey, I did it. I've met a lot of people through destiny and play with them regularly now because I went out and pursued them. In the end, optional matchmaking would solve all of your problems.

Reminded me why LFG is a moronic idea ill live if it stays like this as I have enough friends that play, but I do feel for people that have no other option.

The game has always been too easy. Their only way of making it challenging is manipulating the damage ratio between you and the enemy to make you squishy as a wet sponge, and the enemy almost unkillable compared to every other time you play, in other words just putting the enemy a level above you. THAT is the core mechanic behind the entire game. The fact that you are a lower level than the enemy. They did it for TDB and now they are doing it with HoW. A real MMO player knows that when the grind is over, the real game is learning very specific mechanics of specific raids and finding a team that can work together and also has the skill set to make it work. Right now what that means is be a Titan and/or have a Gjallarhorn. That's an awful mechanic to rely on for a game. You can literally take a soldier out of CoD:AW and give him our weapons, stick him in a fireteam and he would probably come out unscathed using the current strategies. There are no mechanics that force you to find a team of a certain makeup, like other games. There are no mechanics that force all players to stand in DIFFERENT specific locations RELATIVE to each other at certain times, other than the CE bridge and that is just basically "stand here and don't die". The AI's targeting system is complete shit as enemies continue trying to shoot at dead guardians. Every enemy is virtually the same, the only difference between them being whether they have a shield or not, and what kind of damage they do. No special abilities, blah blah. "That's too hardcore MMO for us," says Bungle. Atheon is literally a giant goblin. Crota is literally a giant knight. Skolas is literally a giant captain. Why not have us do something that requires skill for once? Maybe some kind of fight between us and something smaller, OUR size. Much faster than we are, teleporting all over the map like the stranger, making certain parts of the floor burn like urrox, showing up behind us while we're on a pillar to avoid that trying to slash us with an arc blade in a fixed path, shooting a rapid fire rocket launcher at us every 5 minutes, forcing us to maneuver and coordinate as if we were playing 3d Megaman Zero with a team. Now that's a game that I would have genuine fun with. Not the current one where we sit in a bubble and shoot rockets at a giant captain from a safe distance.

                      • Your points are good but mottled together so that your intent gets lost in delivery . However - to answer all your concerns . Personally the only time I've cared about next gen was last week when I couldn't get to my heavy synth in time during Skolas - load time is 3 seconds longer than next gen - with 360 vs 1 - however bathing in synth at optimal moments is not how the game was intended to be played in my opinion. Yes it's there but clearly not a lot of how thought was put into how syth would be used . When I first started playing I avoided the menu screen at all costs ... It's annoying having to toy and fidget with all kinds of gear for everything . Changing subclass was about as far as I wanted to go before becoming annoyed with my seamless gaming experience . Ammo pickups are good enough in 90% of cases when playing through with a mind for each spent round . What is also good enough is the fact that people have to seek out other people to play . MM is lame , it's also optional incase you didn't notice . You have the option to form your own fire-team at any moment . - those who are having a limited experience because you have no friends on or whatever is BS - I was you at one point with no primary elemental weapons or raid gear feeling plain and unfulfilled . Then I met a random doing VOG - I helped fight off praetorians then sent a friend request . It was accepted a party invite was sent and now these people and I are a clan with 15 followers and 10 members . It's not hard to reach out in this game EVERYONE is doing it already . - So my points in point form - *Anything game play that is not seamless in my opinion is a cheese - you had to crutch on your menu plain and simple - *given my first point there is now no difference between generation 360vs1 consoles that actually affects seamless gameplay *find a friend make a clan it's fun and adds extra meaning to destiny * stop asking for optional MM it already is ( make a fire-team of your own play the strike or w.e. - or enter MM * and if you want ALL modes unlocked then you don't understand that everyone will complain about how MM sucks cuz ppl ditch out too much - deej is right to have people at least a little invested and committed to each strike , raid, patrol everything . If everything was MM ppl would leave and it's worse than a shotty server cuz who knows when and if and who will be coming in next :s * I like my clan we schedule and co-ordinate helping each other finish it all ,this is a social game that needs communication to avoid a lot of death and headaches . * u don't like destiny ? Go play halo !

                        • 100% agree, I just want to log on and get matched up with people, if I wanted to make my own team id be playing any other game... I don't want to waste 20-60 minutes looking for people. Also every MMO I've played has a simpler way for people to match up, destiny's get yo own team for end game is embarrassing.
