Defender is good for control and just as good for safe revives in skirmish/trials.
Striker is a blast if you play aggressively. Weaker in trials yes, but not as much as claimed.
Just practice and play to the strengths of your subs. Titans can wreck in the right hands.

I did trials this morning as my Titan. Made it to Mercury in about an hour and a half. Two strikers and a blade dancer.
