The Player: Chapter 3 Part 2: And how they learned to lose.

The other player and I locked eyes, his blue, to my dark brown. He looked older than me, but definitely more skittish. If this fight were to decide if I became a Guardian or not, then this guy doesn't have much of a chance. The other guy moved first, and I did a quick check of the room. There! Go! Go, go, go, go! I spotted the spear on a weapon rack, and I ran for it as fast as I could. I saw the other guy grab a gun, and he pointed it at me. I grabbed the spear's handle and ran for cover. I heard a click. "What the?" More clicks. I smiled, a firearm is crap if it doesn't have any bullets. I rushed the guy, spear leveled towards him. I growled in determination, I am going to get back home. He kept out of the way, but I was familiar with the staff. The guy got a but to his head even though he clearly dodged the charge. I saw him stumble and I placed the tip under his chin. The guy moved away with hands held above his head. "That's enough, you, what's your name?" "Quinn, and yours, sir?" I asked. "I am Salud, but you will address me as 'sir'. I was surprised his name was the Spanish word for cheers. Salud moved across the line of players, they looked scared as the guy I defeated moved back into his original place. "You're next." He gestured to a guy who looked excited to probably kick my ass. He was a young adult, possibly in college. "Shit." I muttered under my breath. "Language, Quinn. You've got this." Casper materialized by my shoulder and then dissipated again. "Oh, and just so you know, you can't use the same weapon twice...go ahead." The guy rushed me. I skirted to the side and ran like Hell. I could hear him gaining, but I saw an opening. I grinned and ran faster, the guy followed with enthusiasm. Now! I dived out of the way and rolled as gracefully as a drowning bird. But I didn't need to see my success, all I saw was the guy's face slide down the wall. "Football players, am I right?" I gestured to the unconscious heap. "You show some promise, I say Warlock, but that's not my decision." Salud pointed to another player as the guy I defeated was being dragged somewhere, probably the infirmary. "Let's change some things, shall we? Ghost, if you could do the honors." "With pleasure." Salud's ghost encased the room in blue sensor, then looked at a pad near Salud. The room shifted around suddenly, until finally, it was a big metal box. There was a viewing room to my left, where Salud herded the spectators. "You can only use your ablities, find what they are, and maybe you'll be cut out for the Light." The other guy and I locked stares, the tension was set at overload. I didn't know what to find, though; I let my eyes close. I smelled sulfur and heard a crackle. It appeared he had a gain on me. I was shifting through everything in my mind, memories, hopes, anything. But then, he drifted in, and I found my power I opened my eyes as the guy was ready to cut me up with an Arc blade. I shoved the player back, orange and purple burst in my hands. "Oh, well what do we have here?" Salud toyed from the viewing area. The guy had his blade pointed towards me, I could feel the edge of that sharp knife cutting through me. His body emmited a slight blue glow, and the blade crackled with energy. He looked worried though, and I couldn't blame him. My hands were covered in Solar and Void energy. My right hand was empty, and dark; My left hand was bright, and jolly. I looked at both of them, kicked my lips in curiosity, and smashed my hands together. My head exploded. Memories, dreams, hopes, feelings burst in me like pins. I felt moments of him, his presence, I whispered his name, and that name was the reason I'm getting out of here. I felt the feeling of fingers on instruments, music pounding in my ears. It made me angry, rage filled me like a glass, and now it was leaking, fueling the energy. I couldn't move my hands apart, the orange and purple glows mixed together, pulling and pushing. Blue, light blue was erupting from the mixture, and it hurt. I screamed in pain, God, it hurt, and I could see my skin being fried off from the sheer power of the energies. I tore my hands apart and yelled in rage. My hands were covered in Arc energy, blood leaked from my fingers, it dripped to the padded floor, and turned the blue light, purple. The guy looked scared, even Salud looked pretty frightened. I don't know what brought him to rush me, but I didn't even have to try to dodge the incoming dagger. I stared him down, it was moving in a wide arc, straight toward my ribs. A wrist blocked the incoming danger, and I saw the player's green eyes go cold with fear. I heard the blade shatter, it's Arc glass dropping to the floor. Salud opened the door and stared at me, his mouth open slightly as if trying to say something. "Quinn, I would turn those off, you're messing with the system." Casper seemed to buzz out. He was right, lights and different electrical appliances like the monitor from the viewing room, fizzed and sparked. I tried to calm down, but I was so angry. I breathed until I could feel the crackling going away, and I looked at my shredded hands. The skin dangled from my fingers and blood was leaking out of them easily, it hurt so badly. "Well, Quinn, I think we all know you're more than cut out for this kind of work. I'll hand you to Ikora, since you're obviously a Warlock." I moved to the door as the room changed back to its regular shape. "Quinn." Casper flitted around my head. But I didn't listen, his face pounded in my head. "Quinn, please listen." I could only listen to his voice. The voice I lost when I was transported into this game. The grasp, the almost desperate grasp. The sex, oh god, the sex. "Do you want to talk about h-." "NO! NO I DON'T!" I yelled, tears brimming, but I wasn't the only who looked sad. I softened my expression and turned away, "sorry." I muttered. "You're more powerful than Ikora Rey, now." Casper seemed to be talking to himself, "your Light gives me the ability to do more things, for example, reading your brain waves, a huge radar, and even scrolling through your memories." "Well don't look where you're not supposed to, deal?" "Deal." I looked out the window, it was only noon. Screw you, Aiden, for making me feel like this. My hands clenched even though it hurt like Hell. Screw you, whoever did this, for separating us, and everyone else from their reality; you will pay dearly.
