Evolution is a theory, don't be an ass. I'm an actual scientist, so I think my 2 cents could be a little important on this. I believe that evolution is true but that we haven't figured everything out yet. I think a lot of genesis is symbolic and meant to teach people about pride. And as the those who keep fighting over Catholics not being Christian or some such nonsense... It goes like this-->
Christians follow the teachings of Jesus passed down through his disciples. The most important of these disciples was St. Peter who is the founder of the Catholic Church. So, the Catholic Church is the direct continuation of the teachings of Jesus aka they are Christian. Fast forward past a few bad popes and you end up with the Protestant thought which you can categorize many of the modern Christian churches. In other words... BOTH CATHOLICS AND PROTESTANTS ARE CHRISTIAN! To be Christian simply means that you follow the teachings of Christ so any church that does that is technically a Christian church.

He knows it's a theory, but it is a fact that the theory happened in the past and continues to happen.
-
The criteria for scientific fact is stupidly high. It would be better and more accurate to say it is extremely likely that it happened in the past and continues to happen. (I believe this) and yes I'm just speaking from a philosophy of science perspective
-
Lol a so called scientist who doesnt understand scientific theory , youre full of bs
-
A scientific theory is a hypothesis that has gained a large amount of evidence to support its validity but not enough to actually be written as a law. Theories generally are accepted because "it's the best we've got" but they are always open to be changed with new data. They also are useful for actually being able to do application problems and engineering design.

Edited by jdubMD: 4/30/2015 12:03:14 PMOk, you are obviously not a scientist, (at least, not a biologist) laws are not higher than theories, they are just different things. A theory explains, a law states
-
Look down, electrical engineer. I know they are different, laws also are always fundamental and very general by nature as opposed to theories which narrow in on specific topics. Those theories are usually made up of models that help to prove them.
-
What field of science are you in?
-
Also, yes. I'm that nerdy guy that reads way too much lol
-
I'm an electrical engineer but I've had a large variety of background in different sciences including chemistry, biology, and physics as well as a small understanding in mechanical engineering and software engineering
-
So you're an electrical engineer, not a scientist. I have a degree in criminal justice and have also taken a ton of science couses, doesn't make me a scientist.

Edited by Kitty: 4/30/2015 10:52:51 AMThat sounds pretty awesome, I'm studying biology and biochemistry.
-
I don't envy you lol. Though I'd love to do some work in bioelectronics and robotics. Good luck to you man

Thanks, you too!
