Apparent muzzle flash with no projectile. 1 is a flamethrower with the igniter on the end. 2 is a directed energy weapon/ beam cannon. Either way I want one lol.

He's holding it backwards, the rocket comes out the back and is still in the tube... That's why you can't see it ;)

Haha that could be an interesting mechanic. You can have a weapon that's a Ghorn on roids, but it only shoots backwards so your teammates have to direct your aim.
