I'm actually relieved
Raids are fun. But they're repetitive like everything else and ruined very easily if you get paired with an elitist or an asshole, which isn't unlikely. This seems to be focused on replay-ability and that's flipping fantastic news. I think it's about time they shook things up. Destiny needs a nice new refreshing activity.
That little picture there also shows Fatebringer being upgraded. Also some fantastic news, assuming that's applied most weapons and gear. Maybe they'll finally make the Gunsmith useful.
No matter what happens people are gonna bitch and moan about Destiny. HoW at least promises to make the Reef useful, which is much more than can be said for Dark Below. I'd much rather have this than a Dark Below "clone"
They're finally expanding the in game world and its about damn time if I might say so. If minus one raid means some amazing stuff for Comet and beyond including a new raid in September (and hopefully new subclasses) then I'm all for it. Bring it on Bungie!

Hahahaha was prison of elders repetitive?! Hahahaha
-
I agree. Longer development on the new raid. Don't rush it
-
Hell yes
-
Agreed
-
I agree with this fully The arena sounds pretty fun, and at the very least its something new Why do we need another raid right now? If we can get new gear from new game modes i mean that would be awesome! I dont know about you guys but im pretty tired of running the same cheeses over and over and over
-
Even though I didn't like Crota's End and barely played it, I'm pretty disappointed that there won't be a Raid in HoW. I was hoping for another VoG-like experience. Being able to upgrade my Fatebringer makes it all better though.
-
Also, you are giving them props for being able to upgrade guns, something we can already do, and has been expected. Do you really think those extra months they took for this dlc was being used for a horde mode and upgrading guns? They could have done all this and a raid. Glad I didn't buy season pass
-
The ignorance is strong with this one.
-
Yes I am. It's something the community asked for and they listened. That deserves praise. You didn't buy the pass so it shouldn't matter to you anyways.
-
Something like this doesn't make replacing raids ok, gun upgrades are something minimal, a raid is crucial
-
An engaging endgame experience is crucial. It doesn't have to be a raid. It just hasn't been anything else until now, so people are skeptical
-
Raids are the #1 best part of this game, doubt a 3 person event will top what could be a great raid, which is probably already finished and they will charge you for it later. Now they want you to play survival mode and you can upgrade guns and be happy with that. Nah, I'm good, I've been playing games with actual content for my $ paid $17 for dark souls 2, From Software actually cares about releasing an entire game upon launch, not something chopped and screwed, and nerfed and misleading.
-
Ugh. Forget it you're toxic man.
-
Toxic? I've defended this game and Bungie for the longest now, but I see that all they give a shit about is pvp. It became obvious after the 8th weapon nerf. Now this?
-
Yeah agree with everything you say. Raids get tedious after a while. If the arena can offer some different encounters then I'm all for it. Change can be good
-
Horde modes are also tedious sadly.
-
How do you know this will make things replayable?
-
Two things. One I'm being optimistic. Two they specifically said that the Arena activity will focus on "replayability variety and skill" and that's something I've been waiting to hear.
-
Good post!
-
And then imagine the next raid sucks and the content for Comet is the same. Then what.
-
I really doubt that. Comet is supposed to be bigger than both the previous expansions combined. Think of it as Destiny 1.5 or like a World of Warcraft expansion.
-
Well said!!

I agree with most of what you said, but I still find it concerning that Bungie needs to have a roll out on info for DLC that's already done. This DLC may be great....and if it is...then why not just give us the full details now? Generally when info is withheld it's because there's details people aren't going to be too pleased about. Maybe it will be fine...dunno. We'll see.
