I can easily say I have my dream job. I work with amazing people, on amazing stuff, for amazing fans. Getting here was not easy. So here is my advice in no particular order. 1) IGNORE EVERYBODY. Once you have figured out what you want to do, just stop listening to other people's opinions about your choice. I had a lot of people doubt me, tell me it was impossible, and just generally how stupid of an idea I had. It is hard to filter the noise all the time, but when you find it getting to yourself, just recenter yourself and shrug it off. 2) FAIL A LOT. Seriously, fail over and over if you have to. Don't let failure stop you and just keep failing. Ideally you won't have to fail a lot to get what you want but be prepared for it. I went through 5 rejections with my current company before I got the job. Every time I got rejected I just tried again after making myself better. 3) LEARN TO BE SOCIAL. Seriously. Focusing on your craft is important, very important in fact. But never EVER neglect social skills. There are so few jobs in this world where you don't need social skills. There are tons of ways of getting better social skills and that is it's own discussion. General advice, talk to strangers, be interested in who they are, talk to them, don't turn down invites to hang out. 4) THERE IS NO RIGHT WAY. People will tell you how to achieve your dream. They are often right about what they are saying, but realize that what they are saying isn't the only way. Achieve what you want in the way you want if you truly want to be happy. Hope this helps.

  • I've heard all of this advice before in one way or another, but it was truly refreshing to hear from someone else with their unique spin on it. I'll take your advice to heart in the best way I know how. Much appreciated bro
