Is NAT1 possible if the PS4 is in a DMZ?

I am running on a 10MB ADSL connection via a Netgear DGNDv3700 router and have my PS4 with a static IP in a DMZ and get NAT2 in this configuration. I always thought that having a device in a DMZ should give me unfiltered traffic and as such it should be possible to achieve NAT1. Is this possible in such a configuration or shouldn’t I worry about it (i.e. is there a significant difference between NAT1 / NAT2 when it comes to latency/matchmaking etc)? Another question: Why is it that even with NAT2 at times it is impossible to have voice and Destiny shows “Voice not available due to NAT issues”. What does this mean - especially since my PS4 shows NAT2.

  • Go to Portforward.com, look up your router model, follow easy to read screenshots and instructions on how to set up port forwarding and port triggering. Turn off firewall settings in your router completely or all the way down. Disable UPnP in your router once port forwarding is set. Disable QoS in router. Don't forget to do the part involving your PS's network settings! & finally, Change your PS's DNS to OpenDNS 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220 You're welcome :) (replied duplicate to the OP rather than a reply of a reply for better visibility for others that end up here)
