So I wanna say Ellie Bloom is the little girl we see lying down in the field with John in the Halo 3 commercial? She talks about it at around 4:00 in the audio log.

I don't know much about the halo lore seeing as I only played the games, but I'm pretty sure Ellie is just a new character that they introduced in the audio logs from "hunt the truth". She said her and the chief would go to a grass field and look up into the sky, therefore they believe she's the little girl in this video.
