Best thing to do would be go to a tech school for some 3d modeling classes after high school or engineering school most schools now days are equipped with industry grade 3d printers when I was in school we designed all kinds of things and 3d printed them afterwards. Didn't do much good for me so far as I'm working as a cnc machinist now but if the right job ever comes up I'll definitely be pursuing this as I'm a hell of a 3d modeling designer.
