I just noticed Destiny is 76 on metacritic....

How did Bungie go down from being a top tier game developer to this.... even the user rating is 6/10... http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/destiny How much would YOU rate Destiny?? To me this game is a 6/10 mainly due to how addictive it is to play with others in strikes and raids... everything else needs MAJOR improvements and where is that story at? but i did get my money's worth after 500ish hours

  • I would rate it a 7/10. I've been a player since day one. Even if the game is repetitive or whatever, I still enjoy it. The lack of fresh content is why I rate it what I rated it. The friends and community is also why it isn't anything lower.

  • Scores for games like Destiny are hard. While I would rate the overall game maybe 7.5 to 8.0, I would also rate games like Lego Marvel as an 8.0 or so. But therein lies the problem. Lego Marvel, while a good game, gave me around 25 to 40 hours of gameplay, while Destiny has given me 800+ hours of gameplay (up to 30 times more), and will most likely easily top 1000+ hours by the time HoW's launches. I've always had difficulties with how games are rated in terms of games like Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior, etc. on consoles, since while all games are an experience unto themselves, some games quality and/or quantity STRETCHES far beyond what 99% of other games do. For instance, I might love an action game and rate it 9.0, but then also love Red Dead Redemption and rate it also 9.0. However, Red Dead Redemptions quality of gameplay that garnered that 9.0 can give me 100's of hours of 9.0 quality gameplay, whereas another game might only give me 20+ hours. If each game is of a quality near or at (in my opinion at least) 9.0, how do I ratify, or properly put into place or judge the EXTRA several hundreds of hours that Red Dead redemption gives me over another game? It is like saying I will give you a diamond that is a certain value and cut in this package and it is thus rated.. A.... I will also give you this package of diamonds that is rated the same, but will give you ten of them. Both are rated A. Which package is better? In saying all of this, I believe some special category or criteria should be had for games such as Destiny in regards to score and grade, since Destiny at 7.0 (if in fact true) yields countless hours of 7.0 value, whereas another 7.0 game might only give a gamer 20+ hours after ALL has been played, collected and the credits rolled. Thoughts or comments?

      • This is exactly why I hate numbering systems for game ratings. Personally this is the most fun in a game I have had since World of Warcraft. I loved the MMO but simply do not have the time to play like I did in college. Destiny is exactly what you would think if you started as Halo for a base, then added some RPG elements, and then added some MMO elements. And they did a good job of it. A few key things are missing, and it was certainly over promised and under delivered. But the core of the game is solid (minus the story). You may hate the RNG system, you may hate the lack of content of your favorite part of the game, you may even perceive the game as having a lack of content because of this. In retrospect I bet people will say Destiny promised a lot and delivered on a little. If only the game had not been hyped up. If only it had just released without the expectations of being an MMO like wow, or the cooperative-ness of Boarderlands. If only it had just been released as Destiny it would have gotten far better reviews.

      • 6/10 at launch was probably a fair score, the TDB came out and knocked it down to a 5/10.

      • 6/10 is pretty much what it got across the board on launch, and it's pretty accurate.

      • You realize that most people who play destiny aren't on the forums. The only people you find on here are huge fanatics who think the game is perfect (mind a few)

        • this is just my opinion, i'd say story 7/10 people saying the story is lacking and complain about cutscenes clearly haven't played call of duty's campaign or battlefields (i must admit it does need to have a skip cutscene button) the story is complicated but interesting if you can follow it (firstly figure out the ones that aren't the big circles are side missions, first play through my fireteam leader randomly selected the mission) it has plenty of room to expand but the grimoire covers some of it's history and the story will keep you guessing things like "why doesn't that robot chick have time to explain why she doesn't have time to explain?" or "why is crow such a dick?" co-op 8/10 very fun game to play with friends or with random people, no ingame way of sending invites or searching for groups and the limited tower space means it could be better finding groups without the use of an external site (i liked the way warframe has a chat box you can talk to people with) pvp 8/10 it is fun but downsides on it is, it is unbalanced and not a lot of maps atleast it gets rebalanced unlike cod where the only re balance they did was remove akimbo from that shotgun dlc 8/10 it adds a story into the game tell me another game which does this given that most of the guns are reskinned

Ehh. To be completely honest. I only play this game right now because there is nothing else that's good that I haven't played. On the upside though, I do enjoy the grind for weapons and gear, and the vault of glass was a blast at first. Still enjoy the nightfalls and such, and every weapon is exciting when I first get it, seeing the different perks and all. But the lack of a gripping story, characters and enemies that could actually be taken seriously, not to mention a complete lack of character development, and realistic action. On another note, things such as the patrols and bounties were very poorly designed, and not very engaging or diverse. I shouldn't have to feel an irritating déjà vu kind of feeling when I look at the bounties. And the patrols are so incredibly dull, I cry a little when I get a patrol bounty haha. All in all though, I have enjoyed this game. It was worth the money in my opinion, and I am going to purchase all future DLCs. I have high hopes for this game, and place those hopes on the sequel actually living up to what this game was meant to be. Destiny has so much potential, it just didn't quite make it. I'd have to rate it around 7/10

              • 6/10 Destiny feels like an experiment by bungie to see how we would like this type of game. The continued support they give it and the DLCs are their way to keep our faith in bungie and to keep the developers reputation.

              • 5/10 Was advertised with a story it doesn't have: -2 Was advertised with events (only has one): -1 PvP lagging quite a bit: -1 No armor diversity / factions useless: -1 It lacks diversity, a story and lags. I don't know why but i expected more after seeing the trailers etc..

                • 5 out of 10 . Great game but not enough time was spent in the Co op part . I hate crucible and will never play it even if they were handing out Gjallarhorns crucible sucks bad . Never playing halo I expected this to be a Co op driven game but it lacks big time attention. . Really repetitive and to be honest the main factor in me playing so much is the MMO's that I want were delayed . I bet destiny dies a lot when ps4 gets elder scrolls .

                • Well, using metacritic as a review source is pretty piss poor. I've rarely agreed with any review in the games I've been interested in, that they have put out. Use your own judgment to review a game. Rent it, borromw it, purchase it used. Decide for yourself if a game is 6/10.

(For me) Was a 9 or 8 out of 10 at around beta/launch, by December it was a 6/10 and now it's a 4/10 that I just don't touch anymore... Was extraordinarily fun while the excitement lasted though.
