I agree that evolution is not something to be "believed" in like a god or higher power. It is a scientific theory and as such has been subjected to rigorous testing through experimentation and observation and has yet to be disproven by the greatest minds in science since Darwin. Things in science are never proven, only disproven, so it becomes inappropriate to refer to a theory as a fact even though we can't disprove it in any way. Evolution is simply descent with modification due to natural selection (mating is natural selection too). Do you look different then your parents and grandparents? Yes. Is this a form of evolution? Yes. Does evolution have anything to do with a belief or any spiritual or religious practice? No!
Ps. We didn't evolve from apes...We only have a common ancestor according to the fossil record and the 98% similarity in out DNA to chimps. Evolution does not explain our creation, only how it is we adapted to life in this century.
