You do realize for something to evolve it's DNA has to change completely right? DNA cannot change without being manipulated by humans, but it can gain endurance to certain things like temperature or pain. Fish didn't form from atoms and fish didn't turn to monkeys and monkeys didn't turn to people. If atoms just collided and built up you'd get some pretty ugly crap that's not living. For example: an ape will always be an ape, a fish will always be a fish, a human will always be a human. Therefore evolution was just proven with a fact to be a theory.

  • You haven't told me anything new. We can go round and round with generalizing statements. I didn't say anything incorrect. I said that you can't give me any example where evolution has continued to work. Obviously true, because this isn't the first time I've had this debate. Natural selection I do believe in. Natural selection says "the strong survive over the weak". In nature that is undeniably true, unless someone strong helps or defends the weak. I believe that Christ did that, and instructs those that believe in Him to do the same.

  • Let me guess, you don't consider a species changing to its environment evolution.

  • I'm not saying that a species can't adapt to its environment. I'm just saying that I don't believe that we evolve into something else entirely.

  • Well you don't have to worry about it because it won't happen in your lifetime.

  • You might be right about that. But if it does, I'll admit that I was wrong.

  • You and I are clearly not going to persuade each other of anything. I hope you have a good life. Good night.

  • The difference is one of us understands reality, the other warps it to fit their religious beliefs.

  • Yes but there is a stove for your hand to be burned, and it is right there. You don't have that in your case.

  • It's a small analogy for a bigger point. God instructs His children who will listen to him that sin is in the world. He instructs us on how to conduct our lives so that we don't have to suffer the consequences of sin.

So if I'm a good person, have an extremely positive impact on the world, but don't believe in your god or believe in the "wrong" one, I am going to suffer the consequences.

  • The Bible says that we can't earn our way into heaven. It's says we have to recognize that we are sinners, who need the salvation that only by calling on Him can we receive. I can't say who is going to heaven or not, because I don't know people's hearts. I just know that you have to accept Christ's sacrifice for your sins and then He is obligated, through His own word, to save you.

  • I'm sorry but I dont think you understand, I don't take the bible literally at all. It is just a book to me, just like any other book. The Quran says the same thing, the Torah and all the other religions have claims that go unproven just like yours. I don't take the bible as the truth just as you don't take the Quran. So you can't use the bible to try to get me to agree with you, it will never work. I hope you understand this.

  • Yes, I believe that Jesus is the only way to receive salvation. I'm not angry with other people of other religions. I just believe that they're misguided. I know that they most certainly believe that of me. I can appreciate that. That doesn't dissuade me from what I believe though.

  • But they believe what they do because of what family they were born in, same with you. You would think that Allah was your savior if you were born into a Muslim family and you would think Christians were misguided. That's a pretty big problem.

  • That's true. I would like to believe that if that were the case, that if I had the same information about both beliefs that is undeniably true. I would choose to follow the belief that says "I'll die for you so you can be with Me" as opposed to a belief that teaches that one way to get into paradise is to kill "infidels".

  • That is what the Old Testament said, no debate there. But if you understand that in the New Testament, essentially a new covenant, after Christ died for us, we're to "love each other, as we do ourselves." Now, sins are still sins and the ultimate consequence for sin is death. Christ paid the price for it though, if you accept it. But if you don't accept it, you have to pay the penalty yourself. So in summary, Christ fulfilled the demand for guiltless blood to satisfy the Old Testament. Therefore we are to follow the New Testament.

That's what I'm talking about, you completely dismiss anything bad in the old testament but then accept Adam and eve and talking snakes.

  • I'm not dismissing anything. Under the Old Law mankind lived under really harsh laws. That's my point! Sin requires blood. That's why He came and paid the ultimate price for sin! We no longer have to pay the price for our sins. That doesn't dismiss the origin story. I'm just saying we're under a very different covenant now. That's like saying I don't believe the origin story of the United States because they had slavery until almost a 100 years later.
