• The usual Scout setup: Scout Cloak Survivalist Knife Scout Boots Backpack I also got a Cloaking Device, which is how I got into the base, and my new Bionic Arm, which can morph into a Scout Rifle.

 • Swimmingly. *tears out a page, scribbles on back of it* Here: I wrote it pusses of my perspective. Veronica: Those... Things... They're terrifying. Every part of them is. I looked at my hands; they were free of blood. It was a first for me. My hands found their way to my jaw, which was now reconnected to the the base of my head. The feeling of having that writhing arm come it of my throat was terrifying. Even if I saved Geoff from what once was his father, it felt wrong. It felt as if I had killed one of my own. Whether that feeling came from the human that once resided in that husk of a body or the monster that inhibited it before I cut it down is beyond me. It was cold. The hallway had maybe half a dozen people sitting down. I could only assume they were reminiscing. Their faces were lifeless, aghast, and yet they seemed at peace with the world. They were ready for the inevitable. I stumbled down the walk, past triage. An inlet where a payphone once hung was ripe for the picking. I claimed the land as my alcove and sat down for lunch. "I'm sure Violet won't mind if I eat lunch without her for one day..." Good thing too: I could use the peace and quiet. First up were the carrots, l wasn't going to eat the best until the croquettes for last. "Agh!-" They couldn't be outdated, could they? I spat them out; I was practically choking on them. On the ground, they were covered in saliva. I leaned in for a closer look. The carrots looked perfectly normal--well, normal for rationed hospital food. "Veggies can wait, I guess." I was scared to keep eating, but I was famished. I tried the yogurt next. "Aaggh!" It burned the inside of my mouth! It was caustic, rancid, even. The cup fell from my hands and hit the tiled ground. I looked at it through the gaps in my fingers, only to notice my hands were shaking feverishly. A dull ring pierced the stale air. Was this just me? It couldn't be. There was no one to confirm it. No one was around in the hall. I didn't want to spoil the croquettes, so I left them on the tray. The water fountain was across the hall. Maybe, maybe I can wash my mouth out. The taste lingered on. It was terrible. I trudged on across the hall. My legs... The bones were quivering inside my skin. I needed to have something, I needed to eat. Why was I standing? Water... I needed water. No... No, I don't need water. I need food. Food. "I need food..." The ringing intensified. I slumped down to the cold tile floor next to the fountain. Everything else was muffled. My chest was throbbing. I could hardly think. No... Why think? I don't need to think, I need to eat. "Howdy." I gasped for air; the greeting startled me. My thoughts started to become coherent and rational. The ringing was gone. My stomach had settled. "You okay? Ana--" "Jesus, don't scare me like that!" He chuckled as if it was a joke. Maybe he didn't hear the ringing? If so, it was a joke to him. My hands were still. "I imagine you're still a little shaken from yesterday," he took my hands and examined them closely. If I wasn't so damn anxious, I might've been blushing, "Your hands are bruised a bit, but they're clean." He looked to my face and pulled a napkin from his jacket pocket. "Your face on the other hand... Could use... A little... There." The napkin was littered with crumbs of dry blood. He gave me a reassuring smile before standing up from his crouched position. "Lighten up, V. You're a hero for what you did, and don't let anyone tell you different." He was the only person aside from Geoff who thought I was a hero. Everyone else who saw thought I was already lost. It was nice. To be wanted again. As he left the hall the ringing came back, but it didn't bother me. It felt oddly comforting. I was still hungry. I was still very hungry. He looked nice... He looked very, very nice...
