3/12/2015 News Update Feedback

Regarding the news update that just came out: https://www.bungie.net/7_Bungie-Weekly-Update---03122015/en/News/News?aid=12657 You mentioned the new features to be released in this 1.1.2 update are at the mercy of triage, well, let me be the first to say this: The first item on your list, Vault Space is ABSOLUTELY the number one priority... If this were a hospital, and this game was your patient, then the Vault Space would be the gushing artery flowing all over the floor. This is the number one top concern of every player I've spoken with. This needs to be addressed FIRST. Please see the many, many posts in the forums about this. Make it your number 1 priority for this upcoming patch. Please. You've spent plenty enough time on the raid glitches, they can wait. You've spent plenty enough time on PVP, it can wait. The fact that people aren't playing the strikes, may very well have to do with no space in the vault. That can wait. The game looks and sounds fine, it can wait. Fix the vault space. It's by far the most ugent issue. I can't go on about this enough. Thank you! https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/87629716/0/0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/80456128/0/0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/104857586/0/0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/104645685/0/0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/105646720/0/0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/82247252/0/0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/100321841/0/0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/108401865/0/0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/108345750/0/0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/107870352/0/0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/107674912/0/0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/107767413/0/0 ...Need I go on? :) There are dozens more just like these... EDIT: And while you're preparing the vault space increase, and the 1.1.2 update. Please give us some USEFUL information about the vault space increase. For six months now we've heard nothing but "We hear you, we know you want more vault space, be patient", but we haven't heard anything new since then. Just the same old song and dance. Can we please have some actual useful information from now on? WHEN will it be increased? HOW will it be increased? WHY wasn't this addressed sooner? Will there be a COST associated with the increase? Will it be in-game materials, or *gulp* micro transactions? (For the love of God, NO!) Give us some DETAILS about what you're working on, while we wait for this fading miracle.

        • I think the biggest question is WHY this wasn't in the game from launch and WHY Bungie took so much time to increase vault size? Is it difficult? Time consuming? Ressources are strained? Any honest discussion would be better than Deej popping up to say "you have been heard!", it reminds me of the queen saying "Let them eat cake!".. Some general platitude placating the masses without doing anything.

Here's my feedback for those at Bungie reading: Thank you to DeeJ for the update. I'm really glad to see the issues on the agenda for 1.1.2. BTW, to the OP in this thread, the title says 3/12/2015; it's actually 3/13/2015 -- not to be pedantic, just a heads up. Vault Space I totally agree with the OP, and so I'm glad to see that updating vault space is at the top of the list on the agenda. It's the highest priority by far in terms of user demand; it's definitely the '#1 Most Wanted' update. To compound that, in DeeJ's recent thread asking people to post the top 3 things they believe to be the biggest issues, I even went to the effort of tallying up 3 pages worth of votes, and the projections from that were that Vault Space was easily the number one issue - I didn't have time to do hundreds of pages worth unfortunately but I did read through quickly and it's fairly obvious vault space is #1. The only thing I'd add to that, is if it's possible, please make the vault nigh unlimited so it's never an issue in future. Strikes Feedback The reason that people complete some strikes and leave others is a matter of time vs gains. When I have 2 hours left to play Destiny and I want to make the most of it, I often play Vanguard Roc because I find it's the best way to farm multiple rewards at once. Engrams, experience, glimmer and bounties; my objective is to maximize my gains in all of those and any other areas, with whatever time I have, and the fact is that every time I get The Undying Mind, I leave. I'm willing to bet that it's the '#1 Abandoned Strike' by large, because not only do I leave every time I spawn there, I almost always see other players leave immediately and chuckle about it every time. Why? #1 It takes a relatively long time to complete. Most strikes can be completed in around the 10-15 minute mark. The Undying Mind usually takes at least 20-25, sometimes 30 minutes, depending on who you're playing with. #2 The corridor staircase section mid-way through the strike is a complete and utter waste of time because the Precursors and Praetorians do not reward experience or glimmer for your efforts. I don't know why for sure, but I suspect it's a fix to prevent people farming glimmer there. None the less, I'm not going spend time and effort clearing out a long line of Major Vex when there's absolutely nothing in it for me; which is a shame because that section is actually a lot of fun. My advise would be to fix that section. Don't try to screw us on it. Just throw us a bone on that one and have the Majors reward the player as they would in any other section. It would turn that strike into being the least popular into one of the most popular, as it would actually be a fairly productive way to farm some glimmer with a Blue Polyphage. If you want to prevent people from just farming that spot over and over, modify it so that the set amount of Praetorians and Precursors are still capped but also so that the section isn't a darkness zone. This would mean that people won't be able to just off themselves and start from scratch a la Exclusion Zone. Or, here's a wild idea: don't. What's the big bloody deal with letting the player have some place to efficiently farm glimmer? I read an article recently whereby someone at Bungie pretty much said (and I'm paraphrasing) "we don't want Destiny to be played that way (played in a way where people are just farming one section whether for glimmer or engrams or whatever)." If this is true, it flies right in the face of Destiny's game-play design; whether you want us to or not, players inevitably have to farm glimmer. There's no way around that. It's how you have designed the game. Most glimmer rewards are negligable, so you have to farm it. There's not really any way to do an objective and score 1k worth of glimmer in a reasonable amount of time. You can only get it in small doses from ads and items/dismantles. And of course glimmer is essential to buying consumables for raids and upgrading everything which is tied right into the premise of the game: attaining and upgrading loot. We end up needing glimmer and we end up having to farm it one way or another. By making it more difficult to do so, you are in essence ignoring that it's a necessity, and achieving the complete opposite of your objective, by narrowing down the ways in which we can farm to dramatically less productive options, effectively lengthening the time it takes for us to play the game in a way you ultimately don't want us to play it. You could remove glimmer drops from all ads in strikes period and simply just reward the player a bulk set glimmer reward for strike completion. Make it like 1000 glimmer per completion. It would take me about 3 or so hours to complete 25 Vanguard Roc strikes adn max it out, probably longer. It would probably take about the same amount of time to max glimmer in the Exclusion Zone. This would mean that players are playing the game more in the way you want them to; completing strikes rather than individually farming one cp for hours on end. Try to consider that nobody wants to spend all their time in The Undying Mind or Exclusion Zone; we'd rather be raiding, doing strikes, or some other activity; the only reason we farm such places is because we have no choice; it's either that, or give up on the idea of buying or upgrading stuff for a few weeks.

              • Screw vault space. Again, SCREW MORE VAULT SPACE There are way more pressing issues than having a bigger treasure chest. The raid issues should be number one over everything. The new raids will have issues and if they figure out three issues with these raids, perhaps it will prevent future issues in raids for some aspects. I repeat SCREW MORE VAULT SPACE Way more pressing issues than that.

                •
This is the number one top concern of every player I've spoken with. This needs to be addressed FIRST.
Your concerns as well as the concerns of those you speak to should ideally be considered, but please do not go on about how Bungie decisions should be based on that as you're top priority OP. Be a little more humble then that... Maybe I'm lucky I've not had issues with vault space so far, but more room will never hurt. Here's to hoping it gets done. In the meantime though, I'd like more customization options for various things like gun weapon perks or armor stats being replaceable with key items found on patrols or raids or both which allow us to modify our gear to best suit our gameplay style. I keep trying to get gear for level 31 on my Warlock and Hunter though, but constantly seeing any of the three modifiers for weapons or armor gets annoying and difficult to get the gear I'd like to have for a raid or Iron Banner when it rolls around. But whatever gets done for 1.1.2? Appreciated on my end.

Ah splendid, so there is a thread like this already. If there wasn't I was definitely going to make one. Not entirely sure why DeeJ closed comments for this week's weekly update. Anyways, I wish to express my thanks to you DeeJ and those at the Live Team for this week's update. This is an example of a pretty decent update, unlike last week's update which was completely unacceptable. I was particularly happy about the confirmation of the team working on more Vault Space. Before today I was under the impression that the team would never have confirmed this until it was released. I was also particularly happy with the line "In an effort to communicate with the players..." I do hope that sentiment continues in a good faith effort to be more open with players than you have been in the past. I may still be a frustrated Guardian with the lack of dialog and communication from the Bungie Team, but this is a start. Everything has to start some where. For this reason I'm grateful for this update.

                      • The weekly updates could be summarised in one paragraph, or even one sentence. It's usually "we know you want vault space, it's still not ready yet". or "we've not done much this week so il talk to some random bloke about something that doesn't have any effect on improving the game"

                        • Could it be that the makers of Destiny wanted players to select and perfect the items they find, instead of hoarding every iota of gear they stumble upon? We all grind the hell outta this game and quite frankly all our gear is blind luck. Nothing wrong with having to be more selective w what we keep

                          • They could probably negate the vault space issue by overhauling their idiotic currency system, removing most of them and converting the rest to be numerical values like Marks rather than requiring slots.

                          • Is it me or did Bungie forget about the Vog bug when fighting the Templar? I'm sure a lot of you know what I'm talking about... The relic holder goes to slam the oracle and no damage is done. Only way to fix this is to go back into orbit then back into the game. I can't tell you how many times I've had the relic and go to slam the oracle and do no damage. It's a pain. That bug needs to be addressed as well

                          • I really like the pvp ammunition crate post. Even though it's not detailed, I hope they are taking a look at "special weapons" because right now they can function more like primaries. I rarely run out of ammo with shotty, and even my buddy who exploits one shot snipers never runs out of ammo, even in 3v3.

                          • Problem right now with destiny is that many people are burnt out. That's why they are releasing this new patch. If they don't release new content for pve then people will continue to disappear until the House of Wolves. Once the house of wolves drops it is imperative they continue to release new pve content monthly. People will Complete the content within the first two weeks. People will run strikes for a couple of weeks after that and then get burnt out again. Bungie needs to rethink their model now. This isn't going to continue working as it did in the past. After dark below, people started to drop after a month due to the small content. Pvp continued to get iron banner, which I am not complaining about, but pve was neglected. The majority of hardcore players come on for the pve. Perhaps they need to start thinking about a subscription fee for the promise of one strike and additional content monthly. I would pay $2.50 monthly for a strike and a Queens event or a better event. Perhaps different arenas for horde mode. You don't have to subscribe, but if you do you get the additional content. They need to create more weapons and armor and make them more diverse. This whole shard economy does not work. It fuels frustration. You can only run the raid so many times per week and ultimately your armor will be the exact same, with same perks, as everyone else. Where's the creativity? Add some rune drops. Add A few rune slots in your armor. Exotic armor gets three runes slots, raid gets two and vendor gets none. Have extra weapon damage rune, solar defense, extra armor, extra health, and etc. This whole same perks things gets old fast. You can only do it so much before you get bored of it. The next few months after the house of wolves drops is real important for the longevity of this game. Comet drops in September. If House of wolves drops in June, you have about three months until comet drops. People will have completed the house of wolves, including full raid sets, by early by mid July. They will start leaving as there won't be enough strikes and new gear to keep them coming back. I'm all for optional subscription fee for additional content. People can say what they want but if bungie said we will drop one event for pve and one strike or a horde mode arena every month, people will definitely pay for it.
