Bump!!!
-
Yes!!
-
I don't like him! He is racist!
-
Oh stfu, if you were a black kid growing up in Tennessee in the 60's you probably would be suspicious of white folks too.
-
I grew up in Atlanta Georgia, so by your logic I have every right to be "suspicious" of black people then. Right?
-
Don't be stupid
-
Then don't spout stupidity like that! There is no excuse for racism either way.
-
You're the idiot if you can't tell the difference dipshit. Again don't be stupid
-
Cheap excuse! And racism is a 2 way street.
-
No racism is not a 2 way street. Racism involves a power dynamic, racism is a system of institutional, systemic oppression, and in order to be racist, you need both the prejudice plus the power to affect people. By that definition, PoC (people of color) can’t be racist, because they don’t have any reinforcement from that institutionalized power. Prejudice on the other hand is a different matter, and we all have our prejudices, and if you are too much of a dummy to see how being a young black man in the south in the 60's can leave you with certain prejudices, then there's really nothing else to say to you.

Edited by FightinFinn 2-7: 3/10/2015 8:40:33 PMI want to see the difference in between prejudice and racist argued in court. They are so close to the same thing that it can be spun in one direction or the other so there is no difference. And they do! It is called the NAACP.
-
That's fine if you want to see it argued in court, but I'm pretty sure the institutionalized and systemic nature if racism makes the difference very distinct, in short racism is prejudice, prejudice isn't necessarily racism. And while prejudging is never the best course of action, it is sometimes understandable, as in the case of a young black man growing up in Tennessee in the 60's, prejudging could be the difference between being lynched or not, and it's hard to shake those prejudices.
-
Edited by FightinFinn 2-7: 3/10/2015 6:12:13 PMHowever, I could have easily followed the same path as him and I am sure many have, that have had similar cases to mine. Not to mention I have had a gun shoved in my face just for looking at one of these said people "incorrectly". Needless to say I won't be going back to that part of town again.
-
You still don't see the difference between your situation and his, imagine if everything you experienced was allowed by the government, and was a nationally accepted practice. Why don't white people ever get this concept.
-
Because it is nothing more than a shtick. It is no different then republicans using abortion as their pulpit or democrats doing the same with gun rights. Hate is hate regardless of what color you are and therefore prejudice and racism are the same thing. They are both hate. Terms such as racism are nothing more than a gimmick to divide our country. There is no such thing as African American, Native American, or (insert country) American. We are all American and that is all we should be. And picking a side on this matter does nothing but further self segregate us.
-
It's not a shtick, you just said you hate the people that bullied you, so what if you lived in a country that had a system set up to bully you, don't be silly and naive
-
"FACEPALM" It hasn't been that way in years and most of the people that were treated that way are dead. That would be like me hating the gov for giving my ancestors small pox blankets, attempted genocide, and slavery. Yes Indians were also slaves, just not to the same extent.
-
Edited by Bad Wolf: 3/10/2015 9:55:34 PM*Facepalm,* That's exactly the point, most of them aren't dead, the civil rights movement officially ended what in the early 70's ,what you think all the racist white people taking their kids to watch lynchings suddenly all just saw the light, you think all the black folks that had to live through such times suddenly just forgot, you think a biased system decades in the making suddenly just went poof, don't be stupid and naive, worse it's -blam!-ing patronizing to black people who still have to deal with the effects of such a -blam!-ed up system today. Things like disproportionate arrests and sentencing, racial profiling, employment bias, miss me with all your post racial America bullshit. And no it would be like you hating the government for all the bullshit native Americans still go through today as a biased of a flawed system centuries in the making.
-
And there is the shtick in its full glory! I'm done.
-
Edited by Bad Wolf: 3/11/2015 11:23:18 AMYeah the shtick, because the disproportionate arrests and sentencing is all an illusion, there haven't been studies showing that, or studies showing how there is a bias in employment against black people, yes the shtick, get the -blam!- out of your dipshit.
-
Yeah, miss me with all that bull
-
What about being picked on everyday because your the only "cracker" around. How is that any different? And I have no ill will towards black people as a whole, just the low life scum that picked on me.
-
Again read about what I said about prejudice vs racism, and maybe your own example should give you some insight.
-
How is racism not a 2 way street both white and colored people can be racist?
-
Read what I wrote before repeating the same drivel all over again
