Do you believe Call of Duty is bad for the gaming industry?

Do you believe Call of Duty is bad for the gaming industry? Some people say it's dumbing down games to appeal to the "COD crowd" Some people say it doesn't promote developers to be creative Let me hear your thoughts and opinions

  • I think it's bad for devs from a design stand point, because they're probably sick of working on the same game, year after year. They can't innovate much because if they change the formula, they might ruin it... and of course i don't believe Activision would allow it. But most importantly, i think it's really bad for players... Activision is basically "forcing" players to spend money every year, to get the most "up-to-date" multiplayer, and people are falling for it. Basically the community is fragmented into several games, when in my opinion the best approach would be, creating one game that would have a long time span. But of course, Acitivion just cares about the money, it's a bussiness after all. I honestly don't believe that most people buy these games because of the Single Player campaing! CoD is a little bit like Counter-Strike and HALO in the sense that what will keep people hooked for a long time is the MP. There's no way i would pay 60 euros/Dollars every year for playing a campaing.
