Lost in the Dark; Chapter 7: Into the Dark

Hello guardians, this is AnonPig of The Collective of Fanfiction and I'd like to take this moment to invite all writers and readers alike to join! This is a single part of a much larger story, A New Dark Shines, to read from the beginning of the beginning: Arttu and the Ahamkara-Chapter 1; The Spine Into the Dark ~ hours ago ~ They entered the Hive fortress in the hellmouth, this was familiar territory, the acolytes outside the three knights inside. They thought they were ready for this fight, they thought they were ready to come down, find the lost guardian and whatever it was down there and go back. "So It's a tall thrall?" Hanne-16 asked. "It might be...if we're lucky." Erik replied. Silence fell between the three of them. The silence was growing more and more ever since they went down into those caverns. Even Asger, who normally can't shut up wasn't talking. The fight grew more tough as they progressed. They came to the last point of well traveled tunnels deep where they can gaze into the hellmouth itself, a door to the right of them was where they must go. Erik took out his ghost and the door opened to him, they entered. "So..." Asger tried to start a conversation. It seemed as if the Hive stopped existing since they came through here. "How far do you think we have to go?" "Far." Erik replied dryly. "I hope we find what we're looking for." Hanne-16 chimed in trying to brighten the mood but failing. "We will." Erik said dryly again. He felt a burden on him, a large weight on his shoulders of understanding. They were down here in the dark, a dark so deep it felt like it would suffocate their light. Couldn't the others feel it too? Maybe it was just that they didn't hear the transmission. "Damn it's really dark down here, I can barely see ten feet in front of me." Asger tried again. The silence returned. The burden returned. The weight returned. The dread returned. Asger fell twisting his ankle. "Arghh, shit man. My ankle!" Asger screamed. Hanne-16 knelt down next to him checking his leg. It didn't look good, he wouldn't be able to fight anything, let alone walk. Worst of all he's supposed to scout ahead. "Erik we have to go back, he can't continue." Erik looked into the dark. His expression was strained. They came all this way for such a simple accident? It couldn't end here. "Listen Hanne-16." Erik said slowly. "We've come this far. If i can just find that thing and get a little more information about it.." "I don't care how far we've come, Asger's hurt! We need to turn around!" "It's fine, I can't walk but I'm not dying." Asger said in a calm voice "Erik, if you think we're close I can wait. Hanne-16, you'll stay with me right? Maybe this will teach Erik just what it's like to be a Hunter, and I'll get the respect I deserve!" " I'm sure Asger, Hanne-16 just stay here with him. I won't be long." Erik started walking away, his light disappearing into the black. "I really don't like this Erik!" Hanne-16 shouted after him, unable to tell if he heard. Thankyou for reading, this is your friendly neighborhood AnonPig reminding you to live beyond the story! Chapter 8; Jesters Court
